One of the events that occurred as part of this year’s first live period emanated in the state to our south at the Raleigh Convention Center in North Carolina. Raleigh is also home to NC State University – and its nationally-recognized women’s college hopes program.
We at Prep Girls Hoops were on hand for the festivities. The drive was short for many prospects out of Virginia and they ensured it was well-represented in the Research Triangle.
Katrina Scholtz

A team from the Deep South Classic’s host state’s north played the team from said host state’s south on Friday evening. Scholtz’s Elevate Elite Richmond 17U defeated Coastal Select 17U by a final of 41-26 early Friday evening. She tallied 13 points to lead all point-getters for that contest. Scholtz displayed that she can be effective as a midrange shooter and also can help her team’s efforts in the rebounding game. The ability to drain her attempts from behind the arc is another area where she excels. Her first nine points all came via 3-point tries – and all occurred in the first half of play.
As the second day of action at the Raleigh Convention Center began to wind down, there were still plenty of teams that were still in midday form. One of those was Clark who was key in leading Impact 2025 CVA 16U to an early evening victory over RDU AllStars 16U. Clark was especially effective from behind the 3-point line as she drained a trio of triples in what became a one-sided win. Along with rebounding capabilities, she plays with a knowledge of the game as she understands to get near the rim for transition plays. Defensively, she will also deflect passes in addition to making opposing ball handlers prone to giving up the leather.

As for Emma Clark, she had another of those patented “not how you start, but how you finish” that are so common throughout sports. Clark had a 10-point performance in Impact 2025 CVA 16U’s victory over RDU AllStars 16U. If she has the ball behind the arc, expect her to attempt a 3-point and expect Clark to make said shot. If Clark has the ball from midrange, expect her to take and make those opportunities as well. What made her game “not how you start, but how you finish” was the fact that all 10 points were in the second half – when her team began to put plenty of distance between them and their foes from the Triangle.

She was a consistent source of energy and offense from start to finish in Impact 2025 CVA 16U’s matchup with RDU AllStars 16U. This was the case when her team was down big in the first half and in the second when a comeback effort resulted in her team putting away the North Carolina-based AAU assembling. Coffman concluded her game having scored 14 points. She has the ability to get the ball from one end of the court to the other and has rebounding capabilities in addition. Sometimes, she will come in from seemingly enough of nowhere to crash the boards. Coffman will also help out on double teams and can deliver clutch plays in transition.
