Committed to play at UNC since the ninth grade! Laine was one of the first players that reclassified to the 2024 class. One of the most decorated players in the metro Richmond area history. Three time all metro team also player of the year. Two time US Olympian that finished as one of the top prospects in espn rankings in the 2025 class!

As I said, James River vs. Princess Anne had two tremendous performances from two of the best players in the state.

was unstoppable as a scorer all game. She showed off her ball handling and elite shooting. She hit some deep shots and made a lot of really difficult ones. The UNC commit drove the ball terrifically and lived at the line. She was fearless in attacking the rim, which was big in keeping James River in this game. Lanie finished with 40 points and 9 rebounds.

is, and how spectacular her numbers have been this year, her play against Stone Bridge was special even for her standards. She had a school-record 45 points in James Rivers’s blowout over Stone Bridge. Lanie has had 25+ in every James River playoff game and is scoring the ball as well as anyone in the state.

James River Midlothian doesn’t have the strength of schedule that a couple of the other teams of the players listed, but they’ve still been really impressive to me this year. They are a top 5 team in the state, sitting at 11-2. Their best player is junior guard

. Lanie is ranked 22nd in the Country for the 2025 class. Lanie is a highly gifted offensive player. She is a great shooter, smart when she gets into the lane, and as good of an overall scorer as anyone in the state. Lanie’s biggest performance was in James River’s first game against Manchester, scoring 43 points in an entertaining game. She recently had a 34-point performance against Cosby and, to me, is the best player in the state.

Probably the most impressive performance of the week was by this junior point guard! She single-handedly knocked off one of the top teams in the state of Virginia! She scored over half her teams points with a 43 point performance! She also put up a 23 point game earlier in the week!

in the national rankings, so they are pretty close together. I have Lanie here because James River Midlothian is a good team. They went 18-4 last year and lost their playoff game to Manchester. Manchester is a phenomenal team, and there’s no shame in losing to them. But if Lanie is to have a real shot, James River will need to be one of the best teams in the state. Since 2000, almost every girl to win the award has made it to states, many of them winning it. Lanie is a gold medalist already, and she is an offensive juggernaut. She will average 30+ a game, most likely, and if James River makes a deep run, she will be the biggest reason.

Absolutely Laine is a technician with the ball! She has a purpose for every strategic move that she does on the court! Only 10 games in a season you could already see that her game is at another level! Averaging 32 points a game, including a 33 point game where she didn’t even play the fourth quarter elite talent, elite skill set and elite shooting! James River high school will go as far as Laine can carry them this playoff run!
