With all the talent in the gym, let’s look at who stood out as the top 5 in their age group and made the all-tournament team. From leadership, scoring, efficiency, and getting stops on the defensive end, these players brought something to the table.
Lucy Fierro- The small guard became a big problem this weekend. With her size you would assume she was quick and played the point guard, well you were right and she does a great job of it. She uses her quickness to her advantage and has an elite handle that makes it hard to keep her in front. She has one of the hardest shots in the game which is the runner and floater. Lucy gets to the paint and if the big steps up she’s quick to put one up right over their hand. A pesky defender and a true competitor that isn’t afraid of the other team’s best player.
Sanai Cotton Welchen- Sanai is the definition of a guard who wears her heart on her sleeve and leaves it all out there. Welchen will guard your best player full court and force you to turn the ball over back into her hands multiple times in one game. When she gets it she is so quick and strong getting to the rim you want to sag off but then she just hits a 3 from the volleyball line. Despite impressive play, Sanai played through tons of contact finishing her layups still including the reverse layups with no complaint.
Lexi Cooley- One of the first things that stood out about Lexi was her ability to get stops for her team. She forced the opposing teams to pick the ball up numerous times in multiple games. Most players use all of their energy on one end of the floor and relax on the other, not her. She jumps around and does whatever she needs to do to get a stop then plays the point for her team. She isn’t just a facilitator then gets out of the way; she’s attacking looking to score. Lexi is a player that you have to play up in or else she will beat you with her high arching 3.
Betsy Gillespie- Betsy showed off her quickness and explosiveness all weekend for her Air Minnesota squad. Her ability to use her hesitations and pump fakes against the defense was lethal and they worked to her advantage every time. She always read the defense really well and got them to stand up out of position to blow by them and finish at the rim.
Jordyn Crosman Jordyn Crosman 5'4" | CG Ogden | 2026 State IA – Crosman is a true playmaker for her play4him team. From pitch-ahead passes that lead her teammates to the rim to score or a crafty finish for herself; she’s always making winning plays. It’s not often you see players putting their body on the line on either a loose ball or to take a charge Jordyn will do anything for her team to win.
