This was one of the biggest events AZ has had in a while with 400+ teams from the Southwest. I personally watched a few games of 16 and 17U.
Here are some of the Best Performances from 2025 that I viewed
Sidney Anderson Sidney Anderson 5'10" | CG Salpointe Catholic | 2025 State AZ Ironwood Ridge (Arizona Elite 17)
One of the better shooters I saw over the weekend from her class. She has deep range and shoots it uniquely like the legend Larry Bird from the side of her body. She knows her role on this team and is moving without the ball to get open. She has good size and makes smart reads to teammates.
Heather Stedman Heather Stedman 5'10" | CG Pinnacle | 2025 State AZ Pinnacle (Arizona Elite 17)
A skilled guard does many things well. She quickly moves the ball with an unselfish nature and will run the floor for layups and put backs with good strength and effort. Lastly, she can hit the three easily with a quick release or from mid.
Jacqueline Rosado Jacqueline Rosado 5'8" | SF Casteel | 2025 State AZ Casteel (Arizona Elite 16 Black)
A long wing forward is another all-around player. She is very active on defense and will play and defend the 2-4. She scores thru contact and plays smart positional defense. She will collect steals and often finds teammates for assists.
Maci Hess Maci Hess 5'8" | SF Perry | 2025 State AZ Casteel (Arizona Elite 16 Black)
A tough wing who can put her head down and absorb contact to score. She is a jack of all trades. She rebounds well, runs the floor swiftly, moves without the ball, she can pull-up off the dribble and is a good passer. The lefty can shoot the three and uses her long arms on defense.
Michaela Fairwell Michaela Fairwell 5'10" | SG Dutch Fork | 2025 State SC Desert Vista (Arizona Elite 16 Black)
A long guard gets to the rim quickly. She will throw up the court passes in stride, hit perimeter jumpers and defend nearly every position with her length and quick twitch athleticism. She is just scratching the surface on her potential.
Alexa Simpson Alexa Simpson 5'11" | SF Saguaro | 2025 State AZ Saguaro (AZ Supreme Blue) (Pictured)
A big time family lineage girl with Gabriela and Jaime Jaquez being her cousins. (They both just made the Sweet-16 at UCLA). Alexa is a scoring wing with great size and length. She shoots the three with pretty ball rotation and can create her own shot off the dribble. She will give a hard ball fake and pull-up from mid-range. She is a late bloomer, as she started playing the summer before freshman year and has taken off. She averaged 20 ppg and she is an all-around athlete as she still plays softball at a high level.
Makayla Carter Makayla Carter 6'2" | PF Mountain View Marana | 2025 State AZ Mountain View Marana (AZ Supreme Blue)
A tall power forward with skill, length and strength. She has a nice touch from elbow and in and can easily finish thru contact. She takes very few strides to get to the basket and runs the floor well. Her brother is a 6’8 junior who also hoops at Mountain View Marana.
Hannah Williams Hannah Williams 6'1" | PF Salpointe Catholic | 2025 State AZ Salpointe Catholic (AZ Supreme Blue)
A versatile post player can step out and hit the three. She handles it decently enough to create her own offense and uses her strength to rebound and carve out space to corral the board. Her skill, strength and IQ for the game standout.
Sophia Yancy Sophia Yancy 6'4" | C Desert Vista | 2025 State AZ Desert Vista (AZ Supreme Blue)
A strong post player with good hands and feet. She catches tough passes in traffic and will go up to score in the paint. She boxes out well and uses her positioning to rebound or score closest to the rim. Look for her to get more minutes next year on a loaded team.
Clara-Mae Hrouch Clara-Mae Hrouch 5'7" | PG Catalina Foothills | 2025 State AZ Catalina Foothills (AZ Supreme Blue)
A strong guard can shoot the three plus facilitate. Her ball rotates like it should and it comes off her fingers quickly from mid to the three point line. She talks all game long on both ends of the court and is very active.
