Tabitha Betson Tabitha Betson 6'2" | CG DME Academy | 2024 State FL / 2024 PG / DME Academy / DME Travel 17U
Betson stood out as soon as she stepped on the court. At 6’2 and playing guard she was a tough assignment for defenders. At Deep South Classic, Betson got down the court in a hurry and she was aggressively attacking the basket. She played all over the court. She often brought the ball down the court and initiated the offense. Sometimes she ran to an open spot and positioned herself for the open three-pointer. Betson was positioned at the free-throw line a lot, and there she had the option of driving or kicking out to the open-wing players. She created a lot of shots because of her physicality and the respect she garners from the opposition. Betson was also impressive in pick and roll. She was effective as the ball handler or as the player rolling to the basket. Defensively, Betson defended all over the court and with her size was able to defend 4 to 5 positions on the court. Betson was impressive and will be fun to watch during the remainder of the summer travel season.
rnChappell shot the ball very well during the Deep South classic. She’s always had a very quick release and smooth jump shot and can shoot it from anywhere on the court. Her mid-range jumper is as smooth as they come and she often hits that one in transition. Chappell consistently knocked down three-pointers and when the defense closed out, Chappell ripped into some beautiful midrange shots. Chappell’s defense was also impressive to see. She did a good job of playing the passing lanes and getting her hands on the ball and deflecting it and creating turnovers. Chappell played great on ball defense as well. She got after it on the defensive end and played well in transition. She showcased some good passing skills and really did a good job of advancing the ball to open teammates.
.
Hunter stood out early on on the defensive end with good on ball defense. Hunter has quick hands and played well in the passing lanes and got her share of steals as a result. Offensively, Hunter can rip to the midrange shot, and has a good three ball shot as well. At Deep South Classic, Hunter showed her versatility, connecting on 3 three-pointers in one game. In some games, she showed that she could get to the basket from either side. She does a good job of setting up the players for assists, often throwing the pass to the best spot for the offensive player to score. At Deep South Classic, Hunter showed the ability to create her own shot, and also catch and shoot.
Facyson played well at Deep South Classic and showed a well-rounded game. She showed good ball-handling skills and her ability to handle with both hands was impressive. She had good quickness and showed the ability to get the rim and finish with the left or the right hand. Facyson could also shoot the “J” and was very good from different levels of the court, including three-point range. Facyson showed a passion for the game and also was crafty on the court. She was really a good-looking prospect and we will look forward to seeing her during the summer travel season.
Wilson was a ball of energy on the court and could drive past defenders en route to the basket consistently. Wilson is a very athletic player and looks to put pressure on the defender at all times. She played with a lot of passion and athleticism and showed a nice midrange and float game. She was dynamic in the open court and that part of her game really was showcased at Deep South Classic. She was good at distributing the ball to open teammates. Defensively, she did a good job of getting back and protecting easy transition scores by the opponent. She often erased the mistakes of teammates or her own by regaining possession of the basketball with her quickness to the ball. Wilson was an “in the face” defender who played a smothering style of defense. She got her share of steals and that lead to a lot of easy baskets for the talented guard.
Moise’s athleticism was almost scary. She was a tough and athletic guard who could finish with the left or right. She was super quick and it was the speed that jumped off the court. Moise was great in the transition game and there her athleticism shined and sparkled. She played very well and was a selfless team player. She played well with her teammate, Wilson. The two of them were a special tandem and caused a lot of havoc in the backcourt.
