Class 6A Glass Cleaners: Blue Aces Have Two Big-Time Rebounders

Having two players on the same team that hit the boards that hard is a sign of being blessed with hard-working talent, but also that rebounding is being coached up as a key to success.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>While researching for this article East High School in Wichita has two players in the class of 2024 that averaged double-digit totals in rebounds.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Here is a look at five players from Class 6A who are coming off big rebounding junior seasons and look to continue to post large numbers as seniors in 2023.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='335962' first='Jalyiah' last='Manuel']</strong>, 6'1”, PF, East (Wichita)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Manuel finished her junior season averaging 12 rebounds per game. She has a huge reach and fights for good rebound position.  The East power forward also averaged 10.7 points per game. She runs the floor well and scores from the inside. Manuel is ranked No. 63 in the Class of 2024 player rankings.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='453755' first='Nyah' last='Chandler']</strong>, 5'8”, SG, East (Wichita)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>East had two juniors averaging a double-double during the 2022-2023 season. Chandler averaged 10.4 rebounds per game and 21.7 points per game. She is a three-level scorer and she loves to get out in transition. Chandler is ranked No. 48 in the Class of 2024 in the Prep Girls Hoops Kansas rankings.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Ma'Khiya Jones</strong>, 5'8”, SG, &nbsp;Southeast (Wichita)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Jones averaged 8.0 rebounds per game during her junior season. She is also a consistent scorer as she averaged 10.3 points per game last season. Jones is ranked No. 57 in Prep Girls Hoops player rankings for the Class of 2024. She averaged 6.8 points per game. She works hard to find open space on the court and has a solid mid-range jumper. She averaged 7.4 points per game. Rogers is ranked No. 69 in the PGH player rankings for the class of 2024.
