Prep Girls Hoops hosted its first Kansas Kickoff this past weekend at Andover's Farha YMCA. Despite it being the first event of summer ball for the majority of the teams competing the caliber of play was consistently strong across the divisions. Take a look at the five 15U division prospects who I have selected to the event's second team.

The Trojan center was literally in the middle of action on both ends of the floor. Let there be no doubt she can handle hard fouls. While her game needs the polish only skill work and games under the belt can provide Harris showed some chops on both ends. She consistently kept the ball high off catches and rebounds, releasing quick put-backs and pivoting well to clear defensive boards. A hustling, long-limbed post who transitions well.

The Cardinal guard was a steady presence on both ends of the floor. Her perimeter passing keyed the offense in getting defenses to shift, handled with control and used her handles to exploit gaps to slip past defenders to get layups. Locke also hit a few three balls. Increasing quickness and speed in the years ahead will make her even more effective.

Middleton was her team's most athletic and consistent scorer. She put the ball in the hole in a variety of ways. Her handles with speed created plenty of opportunities in transition and in broken play situations. Middleton was tough catching well on the move.

Whether using a slick runner, using the glass working off the bounce or going to the hole in transition Weston showed herself to be a serious scoring threat. She made effective use of whirl moves and defended with energy.

Dayton had a terrific second day after struggling to box out and keeping opponents off the boards during the first day. She competed hard on both ends and jumped to the ball well rebounding and when receiving passes. Having to play the 4/5 for an undersized team she showed an ability to score through contact and otherwise take a hit with her solid frame.
