I think this will really help give everyone a better idea of who to watch out for this summer, leading into the season this winter. Enjoy!

Zaili Benish Zaili Benish 5'5" | PG Leyton | 2025 State NE
Zaili Benish Zaili Benish 5’5″ | PG Leyton | 2025 State NE was mentioned in a recent article as a top 5 scorer returning out of the 2025 class in Nebraska. She was also ranked #1 last season as a sophomore in assists per game. When you take into account both of those top 5 rankings, you can defer that she had quite a sophomore season. A player that is the front of her teams zone on defense displayed active hands and feet, leading to a lot of deflections into easy buckets going the other way for herself and her team. Benish is a talent I look forward to seeing this winter, a player who is going to have a target on her back going into this season after putting together the year she just did for her Leyton Michaelis Leyton Michaelis 5’6″ | SF Elkhorn Ridge Middle School | 2029 NE high school team.
#2. Shawnee Gamble – Leyton Michaelis Leyton Michaelis 5'6" | SF Elkhorn Ridge Middle School | 2029 NE High School

Shawnee Gamble
This is one of the “more odd” situations i’ve seen with a team before. Both starting point guard and starting shooting guard, from the same team, are leading the entire state in assists per game. Something you don’t really ever see as its hard enough to have one of these players, but 2?! That’s unreal and almost unbelievable. The first player being the one I mentioned above in Zaili Benish Zaili Benish 5’5″ | PG Leyton | 2025 State NE and the second being Shawnee Gamble. Gamble plays more of a point position for Leyton Michaelis Leyton Michaelis 5’6″ | SF Elkhorn Ridge Middle School | 2029 NE high school and she runs their offense well. Last season she started and averaged just over 4 assists per game, not to mention all the other intangibles she brought to the floor as their leader with the ball in her hands a majority of the time. This winter I am coming to see this Leyton Michaelis Leyton Michaelis 5’6″ | SF Elkhorn Ridge Middle School | 2029 NE team play in person, something I’m excited to do knowing that they have hoopers who play the game right and make the extra pass.
#3. Myleigh Weers Myleigh Weers 5'9" | PG Diller-Odell | 2025 State NE – Diller-Odell High School

Myleigh Weers Myleigh Weers 5'9" | PG Diller-Odell | 2025 State NE
Myleigh Weers Myleigh Weers 5’9″ | PG Diller-Odell | 2025 State NE wouldn’t be described as a pass first point guard but that doesn’t stop her from dishing out some crafty assists to the open teammates around her. Weers, a 5’8 guard, is a scorer. A player who averaged over 20 PPG last year and scored the ball at all three levels on the floor at a consist and efficient rate. Off of this scoring she understands that she attracts a lot of attention with the ball in her hands so she started using that to her advantage and creating for other players. Over the next two season Weers is going to have a chance to step up and show she is one of the top overall point guards out of her class in the state of Nebraska. With the skill she has on offense, and her knowledge of the game on defense, she is going to have a good shot at it if she stays dedicated.
#4. Addison Toelle Addison Toelle 5'7" | PG West Point-Beemer | 2025 State NE – West Point-Beemer High School
Addison Toelle Addison Toelle 5'7" | PG West Point-Beemer | 2025 State NE
Addison Toelle Addison Toelle 5'7" | PG West Point-Beemer | 2025 State NE
Addison Toelle Addison Toelle 5’7″ | PG West Point-Beemer | 2025 State NE is the first athlete on this top 5 list that is not just a point guard or a shooting guard but a combo guard in her position. Toelle, a 5’8 quick-twitch guard, is an interesting prospect in the aspects of her versatility. She moves well without the ball and can be just as productive without it in her hands than with it but her best ability is creating for others off of the catch on the perimeter. From what I’ve noticed watching Toelle is that she doesn’t bring the ball up the floor a whole lot but once the offense is beginning to take shape, she receives it. After this she runs their plays or sets, looking to create for others. Last season she did a great job of this as she ended her season with a stat line of 4.8 PPG, 3 APG, 4 RPG, and 2 SPG. All nice numbers that she will look to build on this winter when the high school season takes off again.
#5. Jayla Wilson Jayla Wilson 5'8" | PG Bellevue East | 2025 State NE – Bellevue East High School

Jayla Wilson Jayla Wilson 5'8" | PG Bellevue East | 2025 State NE
This week was the first week that I had an opportunity to see Jayla Wilson Jayla Wilson 5’8″ | PG Bellevue East | 2025 State NE play and let me tell you. Wilson, is, nice. A player with the shiftiest handle out of this top 5, can score in bunches and create off of the dribble for everyone around her. Not to mention that she has a nasty step back jumper from distance when attacking her opponent. Last season for her sophomore year Williams helped lead her Bellevue East High School team to a 21-5 record overall while also taking them to the state tournament where they ended up falling just short. This off-season she is staying dedicated to her craft so that this winter, it’s a revenge tour. Something I can’t wait to see. When Wilson is motivated she is a different type of player and that’s what I’m waiting for. A player with this skill-set and talent, with a chip on her shoulder. Couldn’t name a better recipe for success.
