On Thursday, Coker University in Hartsville joined that list of schools across either South or North Carolina to stage camps. The one at the home of the Cobras was smaller than others as only eight varsity teams participated.
It utilized two courts and also welcomed a few junior varsity squads. We at Prep Girls Hoops were also on hand at the Cobras’ den for Thursday’s festivities. Even when Sumter’s big three graduates into the college ranks following the 2023-24 season, the future remains bright for the Gamecocks as the standout who sports the No. 13 displays. She was another element of the offensive clinic 5A Sumter displayed against St. James as she tallied 13 points in what was a dominant Gamecocks showing. Ross can display her offensive versatility with her willingness to attempt long range shots. She is also versatile in terms of where she can play as she can log productive minutes as either a two in the backcourt or a three in the frontcourt. Combine that with rim attacking ability and one has a talent that should be on the radars of many Palmetto State hoops fans when pondering rising freshmen.
What makes 3A Camden so dangerous is that it has talent across the class spectrum. Wright, similar to teammate Braylin Mungo Braylin Mungo 5’7″ | PG Camden | 2027 State SC , is a rising freshman. She displayed veteran instincts in the Bulldogs’ emphatic win over 1A Carvers Bay as she scored 12 points in a winning Camden effort. Wright displays plenty of the right stuff as a scorer and also as a rebounder. She gets herself in position to convert on high-percentage baskets and also has no issues absorbing contact that can place her at the free throw line. Wright has experience with Camden going back to when she was a seventh grader.
The 1A Bears had a tough draw in its first game of Coker’s camp as Camden was on the other bench. Blye proved to be a bright spot for Carvers Bay as she finished with 10 points against the defending 3A champions. She proved to be very effective in the interior as not only a scorer but also a rebounder. Blye has no problems playing the game on contact as she understands she attracts plenty of attention in the interior. With Blye on its roster, Carvers Bay could be poised to put the rest of the 1A landscape on notice.

Rising sophomores are plentiful on the roster for 4A Marvin Ridge. Linehan is one of those 2025s She finished with nine points as Marvin Ridge – the lone North Carolina varsity team represented at the camp – earned a victory over James Island. Among those nine points were a pair of 3-pointers to aid the Mavericks’ offensive output. She also has no problems drawing contact which can place her at the free throw line. In addition, she is a threat to create additional possessions for her team with the steals she collects. Linehan primarily plays as a two guard. She is listed at 5-foot-7 according to the Mavericks’ roster.
The rising sophomore for the 4A Mavericks is listed as No. 11 on the team’s roster but was wearing No. 20 at Coker’s camp. The number that mattered primarily was 12 – as in the 12 points she placed on the scoreboard in what turned out to be a win over James Island. Schindler, while effective as a scorer, can be every bit as effective as a shot blocker. One way she does place points on the board is via the 3-point shot while also possessing the ability to drain her attempts in the midrange game. Efficient passing ability along with a willingness to draw contact to get to the free throw line are other strong points to her overall game and she can get a bit creative at times with how she does finish at the rim.
