St. Andrews went 0-2 on the day, but Lamaria Estridge was a bright spot. She was aggressive on the glass and made it a priority to get to the line. She finished with 15 points against Bishop O’Connell, then had 20 against Good Better Best Academy.
Highlights
Arianna has elite size and used it effectively in both games but in different ways. In Pallotti’s first game, where they thumped Good Counsel, she used her length to finish over players and grab rounds finishing with 17 points and 7 rebounds. In their second game against Bullis, she didn’t make much of an impact scoring the ball, but her length disrupted Bullis offensively. She finished with 7 blocks.
Ivanna Manyacka
Ivanna Manyacka
Ivanna Manyacka was the best mix of athletism and skill I saw on the day. She is 6’2″, has a great handle, a great jump shot, and fantastic athletic ability. Against Good Better Best, she had 26 points and 16 rebounds and knocked down 3 of her 4 three-point attempts. Her ability to finish through defenders and leap over people is impressive. In Bullis’s next game, Ivanna had 21 and 10. She dominated the glass and hit 3 threes. Ivanna led her team to a 2-0 record on the day and did all this while only being a rising freshman.
Meghan Yarnevich has a great post-game and is good going to her left. She used her size to finish through contact and also used her size to haul in offensive rebounds. Against Pallotti, Meghan had a big double-double putting up 15 points and 15 rebounds. She plays the game with a level of aggression you love as a coach.
Highlights
St. Marys were thrashed in their first game against Elizabeth Seton, but the one player that stood out was Bailey Harris. She got to the line against Elizabeth Seton and did an excellent job on the glass at both ends. St. Mary’s second game saw them win a close game against Shipley, and Bailey Harris was also solid in that one. She knocked down a couple of 3s and again provided a large portion of her team’s offense. She finished with 19 points and 7 rebounds in that game.
Zoe Osby was terrific against Virginia Academy. She is an outstanding athlete and is fantastic around the rim. She is a good roller and can face up and put the ball on the floor. She finished with 19 points and 11 rebounds against VA Academy. She also had 3 blocks, and she has the potential to be special on that side of the ball with her mix of size and athletic ability.
Elyse struggled to find her shot early against St. Frances, but once she started to get rolling, there was no stopping her. Elyse is as fast as they come, and when she decides to get downhill, she is tough to stop. Elyse’s mid-range jumper is money, and with Virginia Academy’s starting backcourt from last year leaving, you knew she was going to have more of a featured role. Elyse finished that game against St. Frances with 16 points and 4 steals.
Laura Williams Laura Williams 6’2″ | PF Paul VI | 2024 State VA dominated both games in her usual ways. She was dominant on defense, collecting 7 blocks in their first game against Mt. Zion, then 4 blocks in their game against George School. She dominated on the glass, hauling in 10 in both contests. But the real story of her day was her scoring, particularly how she did it. Laura has been able to score for a while, but her jump shot hasn’t been a real factor. She had 19 against Mt. Zion but knocked down mid-range jumpers and 2 threes in 2 tries. Then against George School, she had a monster 28 points and took 3 threes, making 1. If Laura becomes a consistent three-point shooter, she will be unstoppable.
