During the summer league play, we get a chance to see the new incoming Freshman who will look to make an impact ln a Varsity team. We will encounter Sophomores who will take on more important roles, and we will see Juniors and Seniors who are poised to become the new leaders of their teams. In this article, we look at some of week one’s standouts in the Orange Park Summer League.
Mia Chandler Mia Chandler 6'0" | PF Mandarin | 2026 State FL was one of the top standouts during the first week of summer league play. She was exceptional in the rebound departmen,, particularly on the offensive end. She tracked the ball well and had quickness that was unmatched this initial week of summer ball. Chandler did a good job of scoring in the paint where a lot of her points came off of offensive rebounds. On the defensive end, Chandler showed a lot of versatility. The young Forward defended guards on the wings and also matched up against power forwards on the inside.
Mychaela Parker Mychaela Parker 6'2" | C Orange Park | 2024 State FL was a force down on the blocks and just had her way against everyone. Power is the best description about her game, but she showed a lot last week. Parker has soft hands and catches anything thrown in her direction. Her consistent finishes opened up the floor for her guards and Parker found the open teammates to pass to. The inside -outside attack game between Parker and Hailey Revak Hailey Revak 5'4" | SG Orange Park | 2024 State FL will be exciting to watch this summer and the upcoming high school basketball season. Parker also got to the freethrow line often. She has historically gone to to the charity stripe a lot and could lead the First Coast in freethrow attempts this upcoming season.
Trista Brown Trista Brown 5'6" | SG Oakleaf | 2025 State FL came out of the gates quickly and was unconscious behind the three point line. She knocked down at least six threes. Brown played with a lot of confidence and had a “this is my team” demeanor on the court. Brown can score at all levels on the courts. She also handled the ball and initiated offense. Brown is maturing into this role as she replaces Kaylah Turner who was the primary ball handler for the past 4 years.
Gianna Crawford Gianna Crawford 6'0" | PF FL continued to impress during the first week of the summer league. Her abilities on the court are well beyond her years. She has very good footwork and has the ability to put the ball in the basket from inside the painted area. Crawford’s ability plays with a high IQ and just seems to do the right things all the time.
Nayala Jones
Nayala Jones
Nayala Jones played well during week one of Summer League play. Jones was a force in the middle and really embraced her new leadership role as a Senior on the team. Jones rebounded well and shot the ball well from the freethrow area and in. She made some nice passes from the freethrow line down to teammates on the blocks. Jones also defended well in the paint. She will be in contention for the First Coast’s most most improved player next high school season.
