The players below are a mixture of athletes who were ranked prior to this update and athletes who were not, the common factor between everyone being that they are all Stock-Risers with promising futures on the basketball court looking forward. Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
Sophia Hope Sophia Hope 6’0″ | PF Waukee | 2024 State IA makes the jump from #31 to #22 in this Players Rankings Update. Hope is a power forward, on the edge of being a small forward in my opinion. She has great size at 6’1 but has a guard skill set while attacking the hoop. She has the ability to get all the way to the rim and finish in a number of different ways or to attack the hoop looking to distribute to an open teammate. Not to mention that her post game is legit. I expect a big July out of Hope, as well as high school season this winter at Waukee. She is a player who can win a game, solely based on her performance alone. Now she just has to go out and continue to kill it.
Sadie Maas Sadie Maas 6’0″ | C Waukee NW | 2024 State IA just committed to Northwest Missouri State to play basketball for her college career, after putting together a quite impressive spring. Maas is a long and crafty forward. She keeps things simple but can switch it up in a matter of seconds if need be. Her efficient and consistent production are what stand out most about Maas’s game. You always know what you are going to get from her. In this Update Mass moves from #26, into the Top 20 to #19. This class is very competitive when it comes to the rankings. Maas should be proud of this jump because things are only going to get tighter and tighter, as this class gets to the end of their season year.
Kahlie Hill Kahlie Hill 6’3″ | C Calamus-Wheatland | 2024 State IA makes not just a jump in this Players Rankings Update, but a catapult more-so. Hill goes all the way from #88 to #37 in this Update and for good reason. On several occasions this spring I have watched Hill on a much bigger stage. On this stage she has produced time and time again, showing that she understands her size at the center position to a T. Hill stands at around 6’2 and is productive. She works early in the paint, makes most of her attempts with her back to the basket, and knows what to do in specific situations. (Such as a pick and roll.) Looking forward to this winter and the high school season, with what i’ve seen this spring, Hill could be one of the best centers in the entire state of Iowa when it’s all said and done. She keeps herself dedicated to the grind and she is going to be a player I mention several times this upcoming high school season.
Grace Knutson Grace Knutson 5’10” | SG Cedar Falls | 2024 State IA put together a nice spring season with her All Iowa Attack AAU team. Knutson, the Drake Bulldogs commit, is a player that changes the game with her smarts and skill. She can move with or with-out the ball while still producing at a high rate. She can get hot fast from the field while holding nice size and the ability to guard a smaller, faster player or a larger, more muscular player. At Drake I expect Knutson to stay as a shooting guard, with some versatility. She isn’t the tallest player so at that level to dominate the post by itself is tough. With her abilities to play outside-to-inside, she should be making an impression in that program almost immediately. Knutson only moved up 1 spot from the last Players Rankings Update but at this point, any moment in the Top 10 is tough to come by.
Another player that is moving inside the Top 20 in this Players Rankings Update is Yazmeen Whitsitt Yazmeen Whitsitt 5’8″ | PG Decorah | 2024 State IA . Whitsitt is a point guard that is extremely shifty and smooth with the ball in her hands. When I saw her for the first time last season at the state tournament she shocked me a with some of the moves she pulled out. Well, she is moving up our list once again from #20 to #16. Whitsitt maybe a little undersized for a division 1 point guard in some people eyes but she is different. She can handle with pressure all the way down the floor, has a nasty cross over with a nice lay up package, can create and distribute to open teammates, and can hold her own in the tough-ness department. When you account for all of that and her ability to control the pace of the game, you start to see a player who could impact a college floor, as soon as she steps on it. Until then, she has unfinished business this winter at the high school level. I’m excited to see how she comes out and plays. With everything she can do, I’m expecting some fireworks.
