Section-7: Opening Night Standouts

Thursday, June 15th I attended the opening night of Section-7 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, AZ.   [player_tooltip player_id='673099' first='Tatiana' last='Harness'] Leading Edge Academy-Gilbert   An undersized scoring lead guard can score in bunches. She can drive and kick to a teammate and is deceptively quick. She can rattle in triples when she is hot and is also quick on the ball defensively.     [player_tooltip player_id='674278' first='Bailey' last='Barnes'] Leading Edge Academy-Gilbert   Harness young running mate is a incoming freshman with a deadly stroke. She is a legit three point specialist. She can catch and shoot with the best of them beyond the stripe.    [player_tooltip player_id='205684' first='Kristen' last='Valdez'] Sahuaro   A scoring guard can score multiple ways. She can catch and shoot from the three point line and can take the ball off the glass and push it to score. She has a nice floater game.    [player_tooltip player_id='674279' first='Ny'Anza' last='Brown'] Sahuaro    A stronger downhill scoring guard is aggressive to the rim. She can hesi and pull-up from mid-range and hit the three. She is a very confident guard with toughness. She is a physical on-ball defender and her burst gets her to the basket quickly. She rebounds well for a guard and is a good passer to thread it in.   [player_tooltip player_id='674280' first='Dinorah' last='Pacheco'] Sahuaro   The point guard of the group is Pacheco. She has a good feel for the game and can shoot it from distance. She changes speeds well and then can burst. She has a good handle and is very unselfish. She will consistently move the ball and throw up the court passes.    [player_tooltip player_id='674281' first='Cass' last='Coolidge'] Sahuaro   A good sized wing is fluid and works well inside. She is good off the pick and roll game and has a nice touch and good hands to make difficult catches look easy. She will wall up and rebound inside the paint plus can cover on the perimeter. She is very quick on the break to outrun her opponents for a layup. She can also step out and shoot the three with a quicker release.    [player_tooltip player_id='655631' first='Carmella' last='Gallardo'] Seton Catholic    A good sized scoring guard can catch and shoot from the three point line with a super quick release. She actually handles some of the point guard duties and is good off the pick and roll game plus has advanced court vision to find teammates.   [player_tooltip player_id='660337' first='Sophie' last='Morales'] Seton Catholic    A pure point guard is a true dimer who is always looking up to survey the scene and facilitate. She can hesitate and burst by and will find teammates or get to the basket to score.    [player_tooltip player_id='462054' first='Olivia' last='Frankel'] Notre Dame Prep   A high IQ scoring guard who has one of the prettier shooting strokes in the class. She will catch and shoot from the three point line plus shot fake and get into the lane. She has the runner and shows high effort on defense.     [player_tooltip player_id='663049' first='Lily' last='McCracken'] Notre Dame Prep   A pure point guard has a lot to like. She scores the ball from all levels with jumpers from deep plus will pull-up. She takes longer strides to the basket and has a good feel. She makes passes with either hand look easy and has longer arms she uses in the passing lanes to defend.    [player_tooltip player_id='489170' first='Brooke' last='Nowak'] Notre Dame Prep   A rising sophomore is a three point specialist. Her ball rotates like it should and has a quick trigger. She has a sneaky quick burst to get to the basket to score and is unselfish to make plays to her teammates. She can play on or off the ball.          [player_tooltip player_id='205670' first='Ava' last='Pautz'] Notre Dame Prep   A good sized forward who does a little bit of everything. She can rebound and push the pace and score inside or will pull-up from mid-range. She uses her size and length to rebound.      [player_tooltip player_id='558925' first='Raquel' last='Wilson'] Show Low   A scoring guard who is very good getting downhill. She can hit the three and cuts when she should with a high feel for the game. She is a good passer and always stays in motion. She moves without the ball and is a smart player.     [player_tooltip player_id='673100' first='Tamia' last='Pietila'] Miami (Pictured)   The daughter of the head coach knows how to play. She changes speeds well to get the defenders off her and she can score it. She shoots it easily from the three and has a polished runner. She has good open court speed and will outrace her opponents plus burst to get into the paint. She throws up the court passes and will slither in some bounce passes.       [player_tooltip player_id='673101' first='Demetria' last='Dosela'] Miami    A lefty who can play inside and out. She is a face-up power forward and can shoot it from mid-range or dribble drive and attack. She can step back and hit the three or euro to the rim. She is aggressive to rebound and block shots inside.     [player_tooltip player_id='205643' first='Aniyah' last='Riddell'] Desert Vista    A strong power forward moves well for her height and is very nimble. She has a nice touch around the hoop with good body control. She is very hard to guard as she drop steps often. She often utilizes her drop step and she is the force inside that defenses have to focus on.         [player_tooltip player_id='203873' first='Shay' last='Ijiwoye'] Desert Vista   A tough and fearless point guard. The top senior will throw bullet passes to teammates and brings rare defensive tenacity on the ball with his strong build and quick hands and feet. When the Thunder are clicking she is ripping the pockets scoring on layups, hitting the catch three and can euro step with long strides to the rim.       [player_tooltip player_id='339069' first='Michaela' last='Fairwell'] Desert Vista   A long wing is a 3 and D type. She can pull-up off the dribble from mid-range and hit the catch three. She will defend multiple positions with quick hands and feet to play the passing lanes.
