Continue ReadingWe made mention of Brielle Janssen Brielle Janssen 6'1" | SF MACCRAY | 2026 State MN in our recap of top performers at the Mill City Invitational earlier in the week. Until this year, the 6’1 forward from MACCRAY has primarily been a volleyball player who also played some basketball. Late in the spring, however, Janssen decided to play more this summer for the Minnesota Rise than she had originally been planning. The results speak for themselves. As we update the Prep Girls Hoops Class of 2026 rankings, Janssen is the biggest single stock riser by a long margin. Here are the top movers in the 2026 update.
#22 Brielle Janssen Brielle Janssen 6'1" | SF MACCRAY | 2026 State MN – forward, MACCRAY ( Minnesota Rise Wright)
This is only the second time we’ve updated the 2026 rankings since last fall, and there were a mere 75 players included until now. You don’t have to be a mathematician to figure out how difficult it is to move up 32 spots on such a short list, but that is exactly what Janssen has done as she goes from #54 to #22. The potential has always been there, of course. Janssen is ridiculously long, elevates exceptionally well, and has nice touch around the rim. She is a defensive weapon with outstanding rebounding and shot blocking ability. For a player who hasn’t focused specifically on basketball, her skills are already quite well-developed. It is the way she moves, however, that makes Brielle special. Playing on a loaded Rise Wright squad, she has fit right in and excelled as part of an elite unit. The biggest change is her level of confidence, which appears to have soared with more reps and greater success. It might be a couple more years before Janssen knows for sure what sport she wants to play in college but the opportunities to hoop will be good ones. She is a sure-fire D1 player if she wants it.
#26 Chloe Carlson Chloe Carlson 5'8" | CG Proctor | 2026 State MN – guard, Proctor ( Minnesota Starks )
People have been talking about an amazing talent from the Minnesota Starks squad out of Duluth all summer. That would be 7th grade phenom Chloe Johnson Chloe Johnson 5'11" | PG Duluth Marshall | 2028 MN , who has made the entire country sit up and take notice. Those who’ve been watching the team as closely as we have would be quick to point out that the “other” Chloe has had an incredible summer herself. Last AAU season Carlson made our 2026 All-Star Team and she’s had an exceptional year once again. She’s grown taller, gotten stronger, enhanced her already-stellar skill set and done it all while play a ton at both the 15U and 17U level. We love Carlson’s swagger, her big-game mentality, her never-say-die attitude. Her motor is exceptional. Her consistency is impressive. Her impact on nearly every game is immense. She is also a terrific teammate. Carlson has earned a nice bump in the rankings, moving up 13 spots to #26. This kid is legit.
#29 Marta Forsline Marta Forsline 6'2" | PF Mesabi East | 2026 State MN – forward, Mesabi East ( Minnesota Starks )
Carlson and Johnson aren’t the only Starks athletes who have been drawing attention this summer. The number of college coaches talking about Forsline over the past few weeks is testament to their level of interest in the lanky 6’2 forward who has improved as much as anyone so far in 2023. Marta has all of the natural tools to be successful – size, length, agility, pace. She has now added to her skillset both inside and out, making her a force down low against opponents of all sizes with the ability to step outside and make shots with high frequency. The biggest difference for Marta has been her consistency, ability to handle physicality, and her enhanced confidence. Every so often we used to see flashes of brilliance from Forsline that got us amped up; now those stronger performances are becoming a regular occurrence. Forsline climbs 12 rungs up the rankings ladder to #29 where she belongs with the other scholarship-level prospects in the state.
#36 Reese Hagenbart Reese Hagenbart 6'1" | PF Champlin Park | 2026 State MN – forward, Champlin Park (Minnesota Stars 3SSB Hill)
We get the feeling that Reese is about to bust loose. The 6’1 power forward often gets overshadowed on a Stars Hill team where big Lee Lee Bell from North Dakota dominates at both ends of the floor and in the headlines. Yet every time we see Hagenbart play she looks a little bit better. Reese has the one commodity that’s really hard to come by – size and plenty of it – but she also has the mobility and agility to take advantage of the asset with fairly light feet, the ability to run the floor at pace, and the skills to put the ball in the basket. Reese is not fancy but she is very effective. Hagenbart was a regular in the Champlin Park rotation last winter, appearing in 16 games and finishing among the top half dozen players in key statistical categories. This coming winter we expect Reese to be a force. Hagenbart moves up four positions in this ranking update, rising to #36.
#42 Lexie Mathews Lexie Mathews 5'11" | SF Eastview | 2026 State MN – forward, Eastview ( Metro Stars Wiese)
Length is such a sought-after attribute by collegiate coaches. Prospects who are long and lean and mobile immediately draw attention. That’s what attracted us to Mathews in the first place last summer and what earned her a spot in the Freshmen 50 in the fall. The biggest thing she lacked last year was consistency and that’s still a work in progress. When she’s on her game, Lexie shows a world of promise. At 5’10, Mathews moves very well, runs the floor with pace, has good lateral movement and pretty nice feet. She can attack the rim to score and she can knock down three-pointers on a regular basis. Mathews is also a strong rebounder and quality defender who uses her voice on the court, both for tactical advantage and to encourage her teammates. With three key senior forwards having graduated from Eastview this spring, it will be interesting to see how much impact Lexie can have this winter. Moving up 8 positions to #42, she certainly looks ready.
#60 Jensyn Storhoff Jensyn Storhoff 5'7" | CG Lanesboro | 2026 State MN – guard, Lanesboro ( Air Minnesota )
The Prep Girls Hoops Circuit offers players on independent AAU clubs a real opportunity to showcase their skills across the region for PGH scouts and college coaches on a regular basis. What the players do with that opportunity is largely up to them, but I’m not sure anyone has done more to better themselves along the way than Jensyn. The feisty guard has drawn rave reviews from our scouts, including Jeremy Brooks who said Storhoff was one of the most impressive players he’s seen this year. The 5’6 combo guard is skilled with great handles, quality distribution skills, and the ability to score the basketball at a high level on a regular basis. She is mature, composed and plays with a size-large motor. “Sometimes there is just something special you can tell about a player when you see them in action on the floor,” Jeremy wrote, “and I get that feeling here.” We would agree, which is why Jensyn moves up four more positions in the ranking to #60.
