To begin the Spring AAU season I sat down to watch Grace Gambotz Grace Gambotz 5’9″ | SG Mother McAuley | 2024 State IL and her Illinois Lady Lightning team compete in the Chicagoland area. Gambotz displayed almost immediately that she was a point guard that could control the tempo and pace of the game, while being a constant producer on both sides of the floor. The rest of spring, and throughout this summer, Gambotz has been sensational for her team. She is controlling things how she should, creating for others on a consistent basis, and scoring at an efficient rate. Which is exactly what a point guard needs to do, at all levels. Most recently Gambotz has received an offer from Quincy University, Drury University, and University of Missouri-St. Louis. All great offers while looking towards her future on the court.
Allison Jirsa Allison Jirsa 5’8″ | CG Verona | 2026 State WI ‘s stock has definitely risen this AAU season, while competing with her Let It Rain AAU program. Jirsa is a quick stepping point guard who can score in waves, while also being a fundamental passer. On more than one occasion I have seen her take over the game and lead her team to narrow victories this AAU season. While only being a player from the 2026 class Jirsa has a lot of promise. She has made strides this AAU season to become a better overall player and in my eyes, she has done just that. Her future is beyond bright and her ceiling keeps on rising. Something she should be proud of but not satisfied with moving forward.
Grace Linder Grace Linder 5’11” | SF Wes Des Moines Valley | 2025 State IA is going to be a player added to the 2025 Players Rankings Update this fall before the high school season tips off. Linder is a 5’10 power forward, who has shown a lot of improvement and promise over the past year. She moves off of the ball well, while being a consistent distributor on defense. Another underrated ability of Linder’s is her passing out of the post. She understands her size and knows where her teammates are going to be, once a double or triple team comes. This winter Linder will join up with a stacked West Des Moines-Valley high school team. A team that is going to have a real chance to make a run during the state playoffs at the end of the year with their addition of center Kendal McDaniels, who just transferred from Indianola high school this past spring.
Coming off of an injury and Avery Yosten Avery Yosten 6’1″ | SF Norfolk Catholic | 2024 State NE is starting to look like her old self. Yosten, a 6’2 forward, is a player with a high motor on the court and a solid game around the basket. She moves quickly up and down the floor, while understanding how to beat her opponents to their spots on both offense and defense. As I have said before Yosten is going to have a season to remember this high school year. Accompanied with that, she is going to continue to pick up offers from some prestigious colleges out there in the meantime. A player like this is a steal at the college level. Someone who can come in and produce when it comes to rebounding, and efficiency near the rim. A lot of positives here with Yosten and her game moving forward.
Karissa Patterson
Karissa Patterson
An emerging name out of the state of Kansas this spring and summer has been Karissa Patterson. Patterson, a 5’10 shooting guard, displays great length and speed on the floor. Her athletic abilities are superior to most her age at this moment and she understands that. Going into her freshman year I’m not sure if Patterson will see the varsity floor right away but I wouldn’t count that possibility out. She is a real hooper, that has major length and height. When looking at what she could become in the future, it becomes interesting. She has a chance to become one of the best in her perspective state if she keeps on expanding her game, while physically growing at the same time. Something that is more than possible.
