You won’t find anyone as creative with the ball in their hands as Verhagen. I love how well she dictates the pace of a game and can control it down the stretch. She’s among the most under-control kids in her class and has been since stepping foot onto the floor at Sheboygan Lutheran as a freshman. She had an injury she battled through a few weeks ago, but I’ll be interested in how she performs this weekend.

The Brown Deer guard has one of the quickest first steps you’ll find. She’s a shorter guard at 5-5 but has the athleticism to make that obsolete. I thought she improved as a shooter from her freshman to sophomore season, and when I saw her in April, she seemed like she was still playing at a high level. Her speed and shooting make her one of the most challenging guards to handle one-on-one on the perimeter. She’s someone who many in Wisconsin may not be aware of, but she can create issues for defenses every time down the floor.

I like that the De Pere native can impact the game without needing the ball. She plays hard whenever she’s on the floor. I like how she defends, has active hands, dives after loose balls, and deflects passes. The Redbird will make an excellent small-school kid if she wants to play at the next level and would be someone coaches would enjoy having at their disposal. The way she fights on the floor will be something that will turn coaches’ heads and could help her pick up opportunities at the next level.
Bond was on the floor in big games for Kettle Moraine last season. Her ability to keep the ball under control in tense situations and keep the flow of her team’s offense is crucial as a lead guard. Bond’s trustworthy with the ball and can create her own shot. I love how well she can create for her teammates and make sure things run right when she’s on the floor. Her teammates trust her to initiate the offense, which says a lot about her game.
