In the article below I will be covering some of these players and their options moving forward. Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
Maddie Vickery Maddie Vickery 6’1″ | PF Washburn Rural | 2027 State KS was a player that I highlighted a few weeks ago and even last week, because of her recent performances for her ETG AAU team. Vickery is a 6’1 combo guard/small forward, who can really do a little bit of everything for her teams when she is on the floor. As of most recent, Vickery has received her first D1 offer from the Lipscomb Women’s basketball. This is just the first of many offers that Vickery will receive over these next few years. With her dedication and natural athletic ability, she is a player to know moving forward, if you don’t already in the state of Nebraska.
Highlights
Norah Gessert Norah Gessert 6’0″ | PG Millard West | 2025 State NE and her twin, Neleigh Gessert Neleigh Gessert 6’0″ | SG Millard West | 2025 State NE , are going to be a special duo in college. That is, IF they go to the same college. Norah is a 6FT guard, who can shoot the ball at a consistent and efficient rate, while being a superior athlete out on the floor. She works off of others well, while understanding spacing to a T when it comes to the game of basketball. I would say her best ability is her availability. She is always in the right spot at the right time, and it pays off. Her hard work and dedication has really stuck out to me, as I’ve learned about the talent throughout the state of Nebraska. With her focus and dedication to the game, she is going to do big things at the college level. As of most recent, the Gessert Twins were offered by 3 different schools within 24 hours. Those schools being Creighton University (NE), Iowa State (IA), and Pepperdine (CA). I’m sure their interest is going to keep growing but these three options are not a bad start.
As I get into the details of Neleigh Gessert Neleigh Gessert 6’0″ | SG Millard West | 2025 State NE and her game, it’s tough for me. She is a player that plays like her sister, in several ways. She has the same shooting ability as Norah, while also being a superior athlete to most others on the floor. She is a duel sport athlete, who has a promising career on the volleyball court as well. Like I mentioned above, I’m not sure these two sisters will play college ball together or even want to, but if they do, they have a chance to put together some special seasons, that they will remember for the rest of their lives. Their ability to communicate without speaking and to know where each other are going to be, is impressive. They are going to have some choices at the end of their high school careers as to where they want to play. I’m excited to see which colleges will be lucky enough to have them.
Zaria Townsend Zaria Townsend 5’7″ | SF Omaha Buena Vista | 2026 State NE is going to have a real chance to play college basketball. Townsend is a 5’8 guard, who produces night-in and night-out for her teams. There were several games this past high school season where Townsend was the most dominate player on the floor, between both teams. With Townsend only being a player out of the 2026 class, it makes sense that she isn’t hearing from too many college right now but don’t worry, it’s coming. Her ability to score, while being an elite rebounder at her size, is a combination that could definitely help someone at the next level. She just needs to keep working hard, putting up some even numbers across the board, and stay positive. That’s when it’ll all work out.
Lindsey Emanuel
Lindsey Emanuel
Lindsey Emanuel showed glimpses last season of being a solid talent on the court, while helping lead her team to an overall 28-1 record on the year. Lindsey, little sister of Kaitlyn Emanuel, is a 5’8 shooting guard with a balanced and fundamental shooting stroke. She can spread the floor with her scoring ability, or can create for others off of the dribble, while attacking her defenders at a fast rate. This team put up some impressive numbers last season on their big run throughout the year. It’s going to be hard to repeat those numbers but that shouldn’t be their goal. If they play their own style, and just take it one game at a time, they will be in good shape come playoff time. As for Lindsey, watch out for her this season, I think it’s going to be a break out year for her.
