On Thursday night, Millard West won back-to-back Holiday Tournament titles. In their efforts, in the final game of the tournament, Neleigh Gessert Neleigh Gessert Neleigh Gessert 6'0" | SG Millard West | 2025 State NE went off for tournament record high of 35 points, doing a little bit of everything for her team as well as scoring the ball. These type of outbursts are always very fun to see unfold when you know you have a high level prospect on the floor. In this specific case, Neleigh was on fire from behind the arch but she also took what the defense was giving her and kept it simple for other important buckets. It just happen to be a coincidence that the Creighton Bluejay’s also had some of their coaching staff in the building to watch the Gessert Twin’s compete during this event. Which, I’m sure the coaches were very pleased with what they were witnessing first hand, even though I’m sure they understand what they are getting come next Winter.

Neleigh Gessert Neleigh Gessert Neleigh Gessert 6'0" | SG Millard West | 2025 State NE has been the #1 prospect for her 2025 Class ever since I can remember. Her mixture of height at 6’0, shooting ability from very far distances off the catch or dribble, her willingness to beat smaller opponents near the bucket, and that she can switch in most defensive matchups makes her a top end producer at all times. I rarely see games that she competes in and she isn’t the leader in either Scoring or another positive statistic. Millard West is in good shape moving into Winter break. If they keep on track, they will go undefeated, becoming back-to-back State Champions.

Neleigh Gessert Neleigh Gessert Neleigh Gessert 6'0" | SG Millard West | 2025 State NE of Millard West has been the #1 prospect in her Class for years now and that is for a reason. Gessert is a 6’0 SG, that has length and ability to a high degree. She can knock down a shot from almost anywhere on the court, she can score against smaller opponents with her back to the hoop in the paint, and she can create/facilitate at a higher rate than most as well. Defensively, she can stay in front of speedy guards or she can wall against bigger post players. On the other side of things, it’s very hard for one player to stay in front of her defensively. She is crafty in what she does, she keeps it simple, and all of that makes for a true Mismatch Nightmare for anyone who tries to stop her.

Neleigh Gessert Neleigh Gessert Neleigh Gessert 6'0" | SG Millard West | 2025 State NE is going to be a staple once she gets to the Creighton Bluejays program but first, she has a Senior season to put together. Gessert is a nationally ranked prospect by ESPNW for a few months now and for good reason. She is a guard that can shoot it with the best in the Country, she can handle and create, she can defend, and she has a smart head on her shoulders. Those things paired along with her height, natural athletic ability, and experience on a national level makes me believe we are potentially speaking about someone that could take the Country by storm once she is on the Bluejays roster officially. Prior to all of that, Gessert and Millard West will attempt to be back-to-back State Champs. A challenge that is extremely tough, but do-able in this circumstance.

Holding onto the #1 ranking in this Update is someone that needs no introduction if you have been following along with high school ball throughout the state of Nebraska the past couple of years. It is the one and only, Neleigh Gessert Neleigh Gessert Neleigh Gessert 6'0" | SG Millard West | 2025 State NE of Millard West High School. Gessert has held onto this #1 spot out of her Class, ever since I’ve been around and it’s because of her present skill-set, mixed with her future possibilities at the next level. Gessert has been an instrumental piece in her team’s success, no matter who she is competing with or around. As of most recent, Neleigh hit a big shot to help her 17U ETG Midwest Elite 3SSB team secure the Adidas National Title for their age group. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a team effort and no game comes down to a single play but this just demonstrates that she can play in high octane competition and still show out as one of the best. This Winter with the Wildcats, they are going to attempt the repeat of back-to-back State Titles. If they play their cards right, they will have a good shot at it but it all relies on their players and coaching strategy, so we will just have to see.

The skill, size, and play-style that Neleigh Gessert Neleigh Gessert Neleigh Gessert 6'0" | SG Millard West | 2025 State NE brings to the court is next level and that has been on full-display for a few years now. Gessert is a 6’0 Guard, that can produce on or off of the basketball. She can handle and create off of the dribble offensively, she can knock down big shots from deep, and she can defend at a very high level at the same time. At Creighton, it’ll be fun to see what Neleigh can step on the floor and do. If she gets a chance in limited minutes right away, she should make the most of that opportunity but she has a Senior high school season to look ahead to these next few months so I’m sure she is locked in on that for the time being.

Neleigh Gessert Neleigh Gessert Neleigh Gessert 6'0" | SG Millard West | 2025 State NE has already made her name throughout the State of Nebraska and more-so the nation the past couple of years but she has been playing so well this AAU season, I think it was appropriate to add her into this piece. Gessert was just shouted out but Adidas as being a Top Prospect competing this past weekend during her team’s live period action. This is the type of player that is going to have a chance to step onto the floor almost immediately as a Freshman at Creighton and play. She has the height, an elite scoring ability, she can defender her position or size, and she is smart when it comes to the X’s and O’s. When you add all of that together, you get a Top 100 prospect in the country for their Class and that is exactly what we have here.

Neleigh Gessert Neleigh Gessert Neleigh Gessert 6'0" | SG Millard West | 2025 State NE has been a respectable leader this AAU season on the road while competing with her ETG Midwest Elite 3SSB 17U team. On a team and within a program with a good amount of high level prospects, Neleigh is one of their best. She is a lethal scoring threat standing at 6’0, who can produce on or off of the ball. She can matchup against anyone her size or a little bit bigger, staying in front of them at a higher rate than most for her size. This is going to be a fun Senior season to watch for the Gessert Twins. If their team returns and competes as hard as they truly can, they will win most of their contests leading to State once again this 2024-2025 Winter season.

Neleigh Gessert Neleigh Gessert Neleigh Gessert 6'0" | SG Millard West | 2025 State NE is a Creighton commit and the #1 rated prospect out of the 2025 Class in Nebraska. This AAU season she is showing up as to why that is. Gessert is scoring from all three levels on the offensive end at a high rate, she is defending like her life depends on it, and she is showing that she is going to be someone that maybe ready to come into the college level and make an instant impact with the Bluejays. Gessert’s ETG Midwest team is one that is stacked with talent so that she is standing out consistently as one of the best is impressive to say the least. There are a lot of things that she brings to the floor but her well-rounded game is the most impressive. Thats been something that has always shined in my opinion. On the high school floor, she kills it and now on the AAU floor, she is still killing it. If she keeps up this type of production the rest of this Spring/Summer season, her team is going to have a chance to run the table. It’s not going to be something that is easy to do but it’s definitely do-able at this point in time.
