Today, we highlight two conferences that produced three sectional champions in D1 and D2, respectively. The first one we're highlighting is the Great Northern Conference. After that, we looked at the only conference that sent two teams to the state tournament in the Greater Metro Conference.

Brookfield East

After two trips to state, with most of the same kids, the Spartans will look much different this season. For one, not having Annika Pluemmer's offense will be something the Spartans can fill with kids like [player_tooltip player_id='266987' first='Shae' last='Kelley'] and [player_tooltip player_id='497476' first='Maya' last='Kovacic'], but there's a void there as a player and leader. The most significant loss from their defense last season is current West Virginia volleyball player Maddy McGath. Her 6-2 size, mobility, skill around the rim, and competitiveness aren't easy to replicate. However, watch Rosalia Sali, a 6-2 post who could earn significant minutes this season. That said, if [player_tooltip player_id='266987' first='Shae' last='Kelley'] keeps playing how she did last season, the discourse around her could change come the postseason.

Germantown

The Warhawks nearly won their state semifinal against Brookfield East last year, but they did well for themselves. The elephant in the room regarding the Warhawks is the loss of KK Arnold, 2023 Ms. Basketball in Wisconsin, and the current Uconn guard. That leaves a void. However, there's still talent left that will keep the Warhawks competitive. Minnesota State commit [player_tooltip player_id='444780' first='Lucy' last='Leininger']. The 5-11 wing is a defensive ace that's as versatile as anyone. The scrappy guards like [player_tooltip player_id='558941' first='Jaycee' last='Mani'], Reese Berge, Maddie Stocks, and Rachael Murphy are all back and can create chaos on the defensive end. Another name to watch is [player_tooltip player_id='448252' first='Danica' last='Gosz'], who ended the summer on a nice run with her [program_tooltip program_id='713043' first='Wisconsin' last='Impact'] team.

Menomonee Falls

The Phoenix are the most intriguing team in the GMC. They have the most back with kids like [player_tooltip player_id='374231' first='Clare' last='Shea'], [player_tooltip player_id='602354' first='Sophie' last='Trimble'], Katie Janssen, and [player_tooltip player_id='329591' first='Jade' last='Warren']. Those kids were integral to Falls' third-placed finish last year, and they are one of the most unpredictable teams in D1. They have the tools to excel on both ends of the floor, but there's still plenty to prove.

Divine Savior Holy Angels

The Dashers have routinely been one of the biggest surprises in the postseason the past two years. They've advanced to sectionals, winning a regional title, while playing the regional title games on the road as a No. 5 and 7 seed. DePaul commit [player_tooltip player_id='207069' first='Ally' last='Timm'] is back for her senior season, and she's been playing the best basketball I've seen her play. Junior [player_tooltip player_id='338952' first='Karinna' last='Trotter'] is coming off a stellar summer with Mac Irvin Fire, earning scholarship offers in the process, and it's hard to bet against their track record.

Wauwatosa East

The talent is there for the Red Raiders. [player_tooltip player_id='400915' first='Mikaia' last='Litza'] is a talented lead guard in the backcourt, and [player_tooltip player_id='598736' first='Emma' last='Close'] is an excellent running mate who'll grow as a player along with Litza. The x-factor of this group over the next three seasons will be Aubrey Sellinger. Her length, skill, and basketball IQ make her one of the most versatile kids in the GMC. She has a chance to be one of the most pivotal players in the conference.

Brookfield Central

I don't know the status of [player_tooltip player_id='338953' first='Maya' last='Edmond'] going into her junior season. However, there's some intriguing guard talent with kids like Dylan Romero and [player_tooltip player_id='374235' first='Maddy' last='Jensen']. Although the season wasn't wildly successful in the wins and losses department, they made some strides. Within all the talent in the conference, they may get the best newcomer in the GMC with [player_tooltip player_id='747942' first='Josie' last='Piurkowski'] this season.

Sussex Hamilton

The Chargers have plenty of solid pieces all over the court. None of them may stand out as kids who'll be the elite of the elite, but they'll be a sneaky group in the GMC if teams don't take them seriously.

Wauwatosa West

There are some kids on Wauwatosa West who are dangerous, like [player_tooltip player_id='406103' first='Elyse' last='Wendler'], who could hurt teams if given time and space. They may not challenge for the title, but they could be an annoying team to play if some of their kids come in and shoot the lights out.

West Allis Hale

The Huskies will deal with life following Isabella Rivera's departure and deceied how to disperse the minutes she played.
