Marlie Cox Marlie Cox 6'5" | C IDEA Donna | 2025 State TX -6’4 C (IDEA Donna Prep)
She’s an imposing figure inside the paint and when you factor in her college-ready frame to go along with standing 6’4, well above the magic number, it was nice to see she was able to do more than past the “sight test”. She went after the ball relentlessly off the rim, on both ends and she used her power to finish around the basket, putbacks included. She did a good job defending in the interior, she showed good timing to block shots but she also stepped outside the paint and defended very nice upside
Mataya Hall Mataya Hall 5'9" | CG Tulsa Memorial | 2025 State OK -5’9 G (Memorial) OKLAHOMA
Hall had me tweet years ago “You may not be related to Carnegie or Arsenio but you will be a hit” and guess what, I was right. Her growth spurt, both on and off the court, has added even more to what I saw over 4 years ago, and watching her create her shot under pressure and knock it down with a hand in her face was very nice. I also watched her patiently set the defender up to attack the basket, her slight HEZ was one of her many “go-to” moves, and watching her finish strongly, off balance, and after contact was very good, but so was her court vision
Kyleigh McDaniel Kyleigh McDaniel 6'1" | PF Hitchcock | 2025 State TX -6’0 PF (Hitchcock)
McDaniel is powerful on the inside and I’m talking both ends. She rebounded with authority and she finished strongly, at times with players literally hanging on her back. She did a good job mixing offensively as she showed she could face the basket and score as well as attack from the wing or straight down the middle. She saw the floor well and did a good job defensively
Allison Rickman-6’0 SG (Canton)
Rickman is “long and athletic” and I say over and over that is the base. I love that profile, and so do many college coaches, and when you factor in that she stands at “the magic number” and can flat-out shoot the ball, mid to long-range, well that paints a very nice picture. She added some intangibles like handling the ball after rebounding and seeing the floor both in the open court, as well as in the set, plus she scored off the dribble
Mak Golden Mak Golden 6'3" | C Lake Creek | 2025 State TX -6’3 C (Lake Creek)
Golden wore #51 and since it was my daughter’s birthday, that number had me in a zone. She showed me her agility to defend both inside and outside the paint, as well as her DESIRE to go after the ball off the rim. She finished strongly around the basket, after contact but she also did a good job with the “hands and footwork” to get easy looks facing the basket
Jalisa Walker-5’10 G (Pineywoods Community Academy)
Walker was one of the best offensive players there and that made her a “nightmare to defend”. She can drop the stop and pop in transition, mid to long range and she also showed she could “catch and shoot” it while being defended tightly. Her creating her shot under pressure and just elevating to let it go was nice, and so was her explosiveness off the dribble coupled with acrobatic finishes
Alaysia Cook Alaysia Cook 5'8" | CG Thomas Randle | 2025 State TX -5’8 G (Bay City)
Cook showed a variety of moves and fakes to get the defender off balance in the set and that helped enable her to score off the dribble. Her body control was also nice, and so was her finishing after contact. She also did a good job of seeing the floor, especially in the open court and her decision-making was also good. She dropped the jumper from outside and did a good job defending “on the ball”
