With having a vast amount of skilled players out of this state, throughout all age levels, to be named as basically 1 of the Top 25 for an age group, for an entire AAU season speaks volumes. It shows to everyone watching out there that no matter the stage, competition level, or situation in front of the player – They WILL succeed. Below is the list of players selected to the Honorable Mention list, for the 16U age level, for this spring/summer AAU season. This will be followed by a brief write-up explaining their individual play-style. Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
- Ella Moser Ella Moser 5'8" | SG Cedar Rapids Kennedy | 2025 State IA – 2025 – PG/SG – Team Iowa 2025 Blue Star – Kennedy H.S.
A complete shooting guard. A player that can handle her team, place them in the right situation at the times, and lead by example at the front. Has consistent skill on both sides of the ball with good size and speed to pair along with that. This season at Kennedy high school, Moser is going to put up some numbers. Whatever college gets this one, is getting a player that they can trust in the biggest of moments on the floor. Solid spring/summer AAU year for Moser and her Team Iowa 2025 BlueStar squad.
- Zoe Allen Zoe Allen 6'1" | PF Williamsburg | 2026 State IA – 2025 – SF/PF – Iowa Prep 16U Red – Williamsburg H.S.
A player that stepped up in big ways this spring/summer for her Iowa Prep program. At times Allen had to move up an age level but with how she conducts herself, you would never be able to tell. She was a consistent scorer the entire season for whatever team she was on, while also being a defensive stopper. Allen has a lot of room to grow but this spring/summer, she definitely made a name for herself throughout Iowa, moving into the winter.
- Lauren Walker Lauren Walker 5'9" | PG Central DeWitt | 2025 State IA – 2025 – PG/SG – Team Iowa 2025 BlueStar – Central Dewitt H.S.
Lauren Walker Lauren Walker 5'9" | PG Central DeWitt | 2025 State IA is a hard worker. A guard with a high motor, that doesn’t give up on a play, no matter the situation. When she is on the floor she is consistently producer for her team. Is it always by scoring the ball? No and thats okay. Walker is one of those players that can be plugged into several different types of offenses when she is out there, making her extremely versatile and interesting to college recruiters. This spring/summer was a great one for this Team Iowa 2025 group and Walker was a big part of that.
- Isabella Borgos Isabella Borgos 5'8" | SG West Marshall | 2025 State IA – 2025 – SG – Pure Prep 16U E40 – West Marshall H.S
Isabella Borgos Isabella Borgos 5'8" | SG West Marshall | 2025 State IA is a pure shooting guard. A player that embodies what it means to play that position to a T. This AAU season was no different for Borgos. She showed that she is a high level, offensive weapon when she is in the game. She has the ability to change the outcome of any contest she participates in, in the blink of an eye. This high school season Borgos is going to get the keys to the castle. It’s going to be her team now and she is going to make the most of it. I can already tell.
- Jordan Valley Jordan Valley 5'6" | SG Hampton-Dumont-CAL | 2025 State IA – 2025 – SG – Lady Martin Bros 16U – Hampton-Dumont-CAL H.S.
- Brooklyn Valley Brooklyn Valley 5'6" | PG Hampton-Dumont-CAL | 2025 State IA – 2025 – PG – Lady Marin Bros 16U – Hampton-Dumont-CAL H.S.
Jordan Valley Jordan Valley 5'6" | SG Hampton-Dumont-CAL | 2025 State IA and twin sister, Brooklyn Valley Brooklyn Valley 5'6" | PG Hampton-Dumont-CAL | 2025 State IA , have obviously been playing together since a very young age and it is noticeable. A set of twins that just knows where the other is going to be at all times is pretty remarkable. In this pairing I put Jordan as more of a shooting guard and Brooklyn at the point position. This AAU season for the 16U Lady Martin Bros team, the Valley’s were great. They both have the ability to distribute at a high rate, they can both shoot from deep all over the floor, and they both can play some really hard defense. As far as it goes for the high school season, Hampton-Dumont-Cal high school is lucky to have this duo on their team. I’m not sure if they will choose to play at the same college at the end of the day but if they do, they are sure to be lighting it up wherever they are at. If you have a chance to watch these two compete this winter, do it. You won’t be disappointed.
- Jada Podey Jada Podey 5'8" | SG North Polk | 2025 State IA – 2025 – SG – Waukee Jam 16U – North Polk H.S.
I only had the privilege of watching Jada Podey Jada Podey 5'8" | SG North Polk | 2025 State IA compete a handful of times this spring but when I did, she stood out. Podey is a guard with lengthy arms and nice shot form. She is another player that keeps everything really simple and thats why she finds so much success. She lets the game come to her, she picks her spots at the right moments, and she contributes because of it. North Polk is going to be stacked this winter when we get to high school ball. I can’t wait to see how Podey fits into that group.
- Addy Adams Addy Adams 5'7" | PG Valley | 2025 State IA – 2025 – PG – Cy Select – Valley H.S.
Addy Adams Addy Adams 5'7" | PG Valley | 2025 State IA was a player that showed me this AAU season that her game is going to be big time at the high school level. Adams is an efficient guard. She understands the strategic part of the game really well, while being a fundamental passer and scorer on court. In a high school like Valley, where there are some top ranking players in the state, sometimes it can be hard to standout. I think Adams is going to find her spot and actually fit in with this group nicely over the next two years. She is player that could definitely make it happen.
- Ellie Olson Ellie Olson 5'9" | CG Dowling Catholic | 2025 State IA – 2025 – SG – Waukee Jam 16U – Dowling Catholic H.S.
Ellie Olson Ellie Olson 5'9" | CG Dowling Catholic | 2025 State IA has quickness, intelligence, and some skill when it comes to the game of basketball. Olson is a player that had a great AAU season. She did everything asked of her on the floor and at the same time, made great choices in some major moments. She is another player that I think could move around the floor to a few different positions, depending on the situation. This high school season Dowling Catholic is coming for the title. A team that doesn’t really lose anyone from their roster from last season, has had some young players grow up tremendously over these past 6 months, and that’s going to be huge for them moving forward. Olson will be a big part of that.
- Laynee Hogan Laynee Hogan 5'9" | PG East Buchanan | 2025 State IA – 2025 – PG/SG – Iowa Prep 16U – East Buchanan H.S.
Laynee Hogan Laynee Hogan 5'9" | PG East Buchanan | 2025 State IA was one of those players that was tough for me to judge this AAU season. Her first team is the Iowa Prep 17U Platinum team, where she played up. If she ever had the chance to play for her 16U age group team though during tournaments, she would. With that being said, I firmly believe that Hogan was a standout this AAU season, with whatever team she was playing with at that moment. She was consistent in her abilities, displayed a great feel for the game, and had some contests where she was unconscious, filling up the scoreboard in a hurry. I saw several solid guards this spring/summer and Hogan was one of the best from the 16U age group.
- Leah Weaver Leah Weaver 5'11" | SG West Fork | 2025 State IA – 2025 – SG – Lady Martin Bros 16U – West Fork H.S.
An individual with some real promising skill on the basketball court moving forward is Leah Weaver Leah Weaver 5'11" | SG West Fork | 2025 State IA . Weaver is a fast stepping, quick thinking, shooting guard with a lot of ability. She is very good at rising over small players for a bucket but can also be put on the opposing teams best scorer, so that she can get a defensive stop for her squad. This AAU season Weaver was consistent in her play. She showed that she can be trusted to knock down a big shot or two, while also being smart enough to know the situation on the court in front of her. This winter at West Fork high school Weaver is going to have to take over and show the state what she can do. A player like this can do some incredible things when they puts their mind to it.
- Katelyn Aden Katelyn Aden 6'0" | CG Carroll | 2025 State IA – 2025 – CG – Play4Him – Carroll H.S.
Katelyn Aden Katelyn Aden 6'0" | CG Carroll | 2025 State IA is prepped to have a breakout season at Carroll high school after the AAU year she just put together for her Play4Him team. Aden has size, skill, and a high motor on the court. She moves effortless without the ball, understanding that if she can beat her opponents to their spots, she will get an easy look for a bucket. The thing that really interests me is her ceiling. A player like this, with the mixture of size and skill, is pretty impressive in general. When you compare her to the high school competition she will face, she should have a great season but we will have to wait and see.
- Maddy Stutler Maddy Stutler CG Urbandale | 2025 State IA – 2025 – CG – Waukee Jam 16U – Urbandale H.S.
When speaking about players with some high potential out there in Iowa, we have to mention Maddy Stutler Maddy Stutler CG Urbandale | 2025 State IA . Stutler was a big part to the success of her Waukee Jam 16U team this AAU season. She was catching at the three point line and knocking shots in at a high rate, defending anyone at the 2-5 position each game, rebounding over players that were bigger then her, and she did this all while trying to help those around her understand the game better. All things college coaches love to see out there when players are competing.
- Emilie Sorensen Emilie Sorensen 5'9" | SG Waukee | 2025 State IA – 2025 – SG/CG – All Iowa Attack 16U – Waukee H.S.
Emilie Sorensen Emilie Sorensen 5'9" | SG Waukee | 2025 State IA will be playing college basketball one day. Where? No sure as of yet but her mixture of size and speed is going to be a game changer to some college program out there one day. Sorensen had a nice year with her All Iowa Attack team. In a program that is stacked with Division-1 talent, Sorensen did one of the best jobs of standing out this spring/summer on the floor. She showed that she is willing to do anything out there to help her team, no matter what is it. All in all, Sorensen wants to be a winner. Doesn’t matter how she gets there, she is willing to do anything to see success on the basketball court. She is the type of player that can Will her team to victory in the very end and that’s impressive.
- Layla Trytten Layla Trytten 5'9" | CG Dowling Catholic | 2025 State IA – 2025 – CG – All Iowa Attack 16U – Dowling Catholic H.S.
Layla Trytten Layla Trytten 5'9" | CG Dowling Catholic | 2025 State IA is another player that is going to make a big wave this high school season at Dowling Catholic. Trytten is a combo guard, that can move all over the floor for her teams in a blink of an eye. She is witty, crafty, and fast in her movements, leading to a lot of successful for herself this AAU season with her All Iowa Attack team. Going into this winter, there are a lot of questions as it pertains to high school basketball but something I do know is, Dowling Catholic is going to be really good with what they are bringing back. No doubt about it.
