These young ladies are disciplined, precise, and will execute the hound out of you. They are coachable, taught well, and will hit you with multiple options. They are a fundamentally sound ball club that does the little things well.
Last year, the club was 25-11 on the season. Let’s call it a fluke and they were out of character. Why? The Lady Irish teams don’t back down. Being young and inexperienced came to a head, these girls are primed and ready to get back towards state contention. With seasoned kids who gained a lot of court time, these Lady Irish are looking to compete and get back to their old ways.
Led by Coach Tony McLeod, these girls will be ready. They’ve faced adversity, they will be coached up, and you better believe he’s going to have his team ready to outwork you. Sound body, sound mind. Don’t call it “the luck of the irish.” These girls are some hard workers who are poised to have a different outcome this upcoming season. When November hits, just know it’s a full go off Franklin Rd. in Nashville. The Father Ryan Lady Irish are ready and they are back.
Here are some Lady Irish prospects you need to keep an eye on this upcoming season.
Izzy Gavigan (5’11/Sr./F)– Has nice size. Poise. She doesn’t get rattled by opponents. She can beat you on the inside or out. Sees the floor well. Can finish around the rim, knock down the 3, or beat you in the mid-range area. Hits open teammates when defenses collapse on her. She’s on the boards on both ends. An anchor on the defensive end. She blocks shots, communicates with teammates, defends down low. What I love most about her is that she is willing to give her body up to take charges. A selfless leader who is willing to go great lengths to lead her squad. Great prospect that is a handful to deal with on a nightly basis.
Olivia McWright (5’8/Sr./PG)– A floor general who is going to execute to the best of her ability. She is tough, a coach on the floor, and a visionary. Can see things develop before they happen. She can shoot the 3 ball consistently, but doesn’t force to get hers within the offense. Coach puts a lot of trust in her as she has the ball in her hands more often than not. She isn’t afraid to go get a bucket, but will also look to feed her teammates. On the defensive end, she’s willing to go toe to toe with some of the best. Getting steals, causing a ruckus is a part of her game. Just know there is no off night against this girl. She’s going to bring it every time she steps onto the floor.
Abby Larkin Abby Larkin 5'9" | SF Father Ryan | 2025 State TN (5’9/Jr./G)– 3pt specialist, this young lady loves the 3 ball. Don’t get me wrong, she can do more things on the offensive end, but the 3, money. I love the way she holds her follow thru. She’s a hard working kid who plays tough on both ends of the floor. When the lights come on, she’s ready to compete with all she has. She’s always in the mix. Rebounds, loose balls, you name it. She’s a scrappy player who gets after it.
Kate Fielding Kate Fielding 5'8" | SG Father Ryan | 2026 State TN (5’7/ So./ G)– She’s a gamer. Quiet kid who is coming into her own. Will get more court time this year and will flourish. Has the ability to score the ball from the perimeter or get down hill and finish. She sees the floor well, finding creative ways to attack open gaps. She will do all things a basketball player should do. Rebound, defend, make timely passes, take charges. She’s a selfless player who just loves playing the game of basketball. Look for her to thrive as her confidence goes up. She’s going to be tough to deal with. A silent assassin who will do it all behind that smile. Great kid with a lot of potential.
