The Bellevue Freshman Showcase did not disappoint with talent that will keep girls basketball in good hands for the next four years in WA state. Here’s a look at some of the top players who could fill big roles next season.
Averie will join a Davis team with one of the most dynamic scoring guards in the state in Esmeralda Galindo Esmeralda Galindo 5’6″ | CG Davis | 2024 State WA . With much of the attention likely focused on the school record holder for points, it may benefit this talented freshman. Averie has all the tools, physically and skill wise. She is a long guard who showed plenty of promise at the freshman showcase. She is capable of being a primary ball handling guard. She has all level scoring talent and filled the stat sheet. She rebounded well, has great court vision and a great feel for the game. Davis should be back in the hunt come playoff time with a new face on the floor. One who can make an immediate impact.
Highlights
Dilyn plays the game at warp speed and plays it well. She showed a high level of court awareness in all phases. She made some outstanding passes, and takes care of the ball. She is seemingly a step ahead of the game and all over the court with her high energy style of play. She uses her quickness to get to the basket on the hall court and start the break in the full court. She can also shoot it from long range. She was one of the more impressive players as far as understanding the game at the showcase. WF West will have a couple players to help the squad with Joy Cushman Joy Cushman 5’9″ | CG WF West | 2027 WA also making a good impression in Bellevue as an elite level shooter in the making.
Julia steps into one of the more intriguing roles next season at Lake Washington. She will join Sophomore star Ashley Uusitalo Ashley Uusitalo 5’9″ | SG Lake Washington | 2026 State WA and junior Paige Citron Paige Citron 5’7″ | CG Lake Washington | 2025 State WA . This will be one of the most dynamic young backcourts in the state. The freshman was my CO-MVP of the showcase. She is explosive and plays much older than she is. She is a star in the making and one of the freshman who could take over a game next season. She is that dynamic on the offensive end of the floor. rn
Highlights
Olympia has help on the way in Schaff, who was all tournament 1st team at the showcase. She is an athlete who is varsity ready and then some. She played with confidence and attacked the basket with a purpose. She is a slashing type two or three and can also fill up the stat sheet. See is good in the open floor and has the touch from mid-range to be effective on all levels. She will team up with another athletic guard in last year’s defensive player of the year in the South Sound 4A Lauren Wolin Lauren Wolin 5’8″ | PG Olympia | 2025 State WA .
