Talent that will one day translate to the college level when things are said and done for their high school careers. Below are four more teams that have special talents on their roster, giving them a chance this season to make some noise.
Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
Maquoketa High School (13-10)
- Returning 5/5 starters from a year ago.
- This team is going to skyrocket over the next few seasons. This being the first. Last year they put together a 13-10 record while starting 3 freshman and a playing a few more underclassman at a consistent rate.
- The 2026 trio of Cora Widel, Aubrey Kroymann Aubrey Kroymann 6'0" | C Maquoketa | 2026 State IA , and Maelyn Kluever are going to mean everything to this varsity group. If those three can put together a connection over the next few months, playoff time will be significantly more interesting this spring.
- This roster from front to back is one of the most complete in the state when considering the 4A class, all they need to do is fit the pieces together, in the right spaces and they will be a real contender over the next few years at this level. Which is pretty impressive to say, speaking about one of the biggest classes in Iowa.
Central DeWitt High School (14-8)
- Returning 4/5 starters from a year ago.
- This team is one that will thrive on their young talent, alike everyone else I’ll mention in this article. The Sabers bringing back guard Lauren Walker Lauren Walker 5'9" | PG Central DeWitt | 2025 State IA and Ava Putman Ava Putman 5'7" | CG Central DeWitt | 2026 State IA is good news for them. These are the two players, looking toward the future, that the Sabers are going to rely on for production, every time they take the floor.
- The schedule that is placed in front of the Sabers is one that will test them and show everyone what they are all about, well before playoff time comes around. Making each game more important when you step back and take a look at the big playoff picture.
- This roster does lose two starting players but they have every chance to be better this season then the last. The young guns they have are more experienced across the board and they now better understand the intensity they need to practice with, if they are going to make waves this year throughout the state.
Bondurant-Farrar High School (13-10)
- Returning 3/5 starters from a year ago.
- This team has a seasoned mixture of young and experienced talent on their roster.
- If they want to be successful this season they will need to embody what it means like to play as a team. If they play as one unit, they will be able to beat some good programs this year and potentially make a run. If they don’t, then I could see this season going the complete opposite way.
- Starting off the season on the correct note will be a big key to this programs year. I need to see what they can do against other teams that have some talent on their roster. In the past it seems that BF has struggled in big moments against some well-rounded programs. I think that can all change with the roster they currently have. They just have to lock in and go out to do it now.
Oskaloosa High School (10-13)
- Returning 4/5 starters from a year ago.
- This team takes a major hit at the guard position by losing their starting PG from last year but they make up for that in young talent that will now have a year of experience under their belt.
- The growth and domination of Dasia Foster Dasia Foster 6'3" | C Oskaloosa | 2025 State IA is going to have to hit new heights this year. Foster has size on almost everyone and some skill to match that. She just needs to work on her balance/footwork and she will be in good shape. She had a nice AAU season this past spring and summer with Pure Prep but still has a long ways to go to unlock her full potential.
- Defense is my biggest concern and major key for Oskalooa this season. Last year they ended the season with a -5 point differential per game, which needs to change. If they clean up things on the defensive end and everyone works has a group to help Foster in the middle, they could compete with some successful programs this season. I need to see it to believe it first though.
