The slate of teams did not disappoint and the only misfortune is that I had a very limited scope to see all the talent play! However, there were some shooting stars that grabbed my attention as I played the role of coach and scout on Sunday. Ring the bell!
Are you a 2024-2026 prospect looking to compete against the best Michigan has to offer? Register for the PGH Top 250 Expo taking place on Sep. 23rd. We have 12 colleges currently committed to watching this event!
Alena Blumberg Alena Blumberg 5’9″ | CG Dexter | 2025 State MI from Dexter is a talented prospect who I have been waiting to watch play live: she did not disappoint. In the first half Alena had a crossover into a pull up 3-pt bucket, but Dexter trailed Michigan Magic big at half and needed someone to bring them back. Alena caught fire and started the second half with a left drive transfer to right hand floater finish in traffic. She caused turnovers with pressure/deflections and hit the offensive boards. Notes: transition pull up 3 after rebound, relocation corner 3, wing 3, wing 3, and one left handed in transition after steal: makes FT. Alena willed herself to perform for her teammates and emptied the tank. She played like a champion on Sunday.
Bri Thomas Bri Thomas 5’9″ | CG Trenton | 2024 State MI had the “magic touch” on Sunday. She put on a show on both ends of the court and led her team to an impressive victory against Dexter. Bri drove baseline and was able to use her vision and find open teammates. She accelerated downhill to the rim and finished with her left, and continuously shredded the net with 3 point makes off of the catch and off the dribble. I hear the opposing coach shout “she’s a shooter” and I can confirm that without a doubt. She showed her speed to rebound and take it all the way for a layup. Bri led her team in steals by applying ball pressure and reading lazy back court passes. Bri demonstrated elite skills on both sides of the ball and made a lasting impression on me as a top performer Sunday.
Bayli Stewart Bayli Stewart SF Parma Western | 2025 State MI was someone I could not help but notice on Sunday. Bayli physically displayed extreme toughness and skill by finishing under hard contact on the offensive end. She scored at all three levels and showed an endless motor on the court. She is a prospect playing for Michigan Premier that coaches will want to get a look at this fall at Legacy.
Emma Chapelle
Emma Chapelle
Emma Chapelle played exceptional basketball with the Magic on Sunday. Some notes: corner 3, retreat dribble pull up mid wing, wing 3, steal. Emma sees the court well and has great chemistry with her teammates. She is a strong and athletic wing who handles the ball like a guard and battles in the post like a power forward. She rebounds, defends, and can take over a game offensively on her own. Emma is someone who should be getting looks and is on my list of prospects I want to see more of!
Makenna Jarratt
Makenna Jarratt
What is real toughness? 2024 Makenna Jarratt showed it on Sunday. She started the Dexter game on fire. Notes: backcut finish, shot fake drive and finish, top of key 3, 3 from the wing, cross court pass assist. Makenna shot the ball from 3 0n the wing and ended up being fouled on a tough box out. She clearly injured her ankle and was in visible pain: she refused to leave the court until after she shot her free throws. Makenna came back into the game after seeing the trainer, but was not the same. Her toughness left an impression and she is a prospect coaches will want to see more of this fall.
Heidi Fuchs Heidi Fuchs PF State MI
Heidi Fuchs Heidi Fuchs PF State MI
5’10 2024 Heidi Fuchs Heidi Fuchs PF State MI is listed as a Center on Hudl but she is not your traditional post. She started the game against Michigan Magic with a wing 3 that got my attention. She is aggressive and physical, ripping the ball out of an opponent’s hands and creating steals. She drove to the rim downhill with control and pace. Heidi found a teammate in the corner for an assist. She knocked down another corner 3. Hedi is someone I absolutely need to see more of and colleges should be seeing her play this fall.
Addison was a playmaker for Dexter on Sunday and caught my attention against the Magic. She started the game with a confident shot fake and drive finish at the rim. She used an impressive behind the back snap and spin dribble hit multiple 3 point shots and forced turnovers with her relentless ball pressure. Addison sees the court extremely well and plays the game with speed and confidence. She is an elite prospect for a talented team at Dexter.
Highlights
Bombs Away!
Howell was dropping bombs from beyond the perimeter on Sunday and their dominance was a complete team effort. They hit at least ten 3’s during the game I saw coming from Kylie Pung Kylie Pung SG Howell | 2025 State MI , Gabby Piepho Gabby Piepho CG Howell | 2026 State MI , MacKenzie Duthie, Lexi Le, Maurisa Mikus, and I probably forgot somebody. If you lose any of these girls in transition you are going to pay the price!
