Continue ReadingOver the years, I’ve attended showcases put on by various grassroots programs, and this past Sunday, September 10, was the OPS Elite Showcase in Fort Wayne, Indiana. It had more than 40 prospects from Northeast and Northern Indiana in attendance, as well as coaches from at least six small colleges, plus it was a great opportunity for me to see a lot of younger players perform. In this second of two articles, I will focus on eight members in the classes of 2026 & 2027 who I felt stood out in the action I was able to see.

– I got to see Camryn several times throughout the Spring and Summer, and she definitely has a lot of potential in her game. She is extremely long and wiry, fluidly athletic, and versatile. She has nice touch from the perimeter, but she can also glide to the basket and change directions with the ball. She will need to get stronger to absorb contact better, but once she does, she has real college upside.

– I have seen Kendall for a couple of years now, and she just steadily improves from month to month. She has nice form and touch shooting the ball from the perimeter, but I like how she pairs that with her strength and attacks the basket for scores. She will compete, defend, and rebound her position, plus she’ll get on the floor for loose balls, etc. I also felt like she looked a little more athletic in all directions.

– This was my first time seeing Carley, and I’m glad I did, because it helped her make our 2026 watch list on Tuesday. She has a long, wiry-strong frame, solid athleticism in all directions, but she has a real feel for the game. She has a nice handle and can use either hand equally well, plus she plays with her head up looking for teammates. She has actually already earned a couple of strong NAIA offers.

– “Savy” is another Homestead newcomer to our 2026 rankings, and she has a ton of upside. She is extremely long, wiry-strong, and fluidly athletic. She competes and tries to play physical, but she just needs time to continue building her strength. She has some touch in the mid-post, and she can put it on the floor one to two dribbles and get somewhere. Additionally, she’s a shot-blocking presence.
Brooklyn Koester, 2027, 5-7 PG, Ottoville H.S. (OH)
– I know she isn’t an Indiana kid, but she stood out to me as much as anyone Sunday with her play. She already has a wiry-strong, athletic frame, she moves well in all directions, and she’s very skilled offensively. She can handle and finish with either hand, she plays with her head up scanning the floor, and she can really shoot it. She plays with a Senior’s savvy. She will need to play with the same urgency defensively.

– Eva was solid at the PGH Freshman Showcase a couple of weeks ago, but she was much better on Sunday. She is extremely long, wiry, and fluid/smooth. She can shoot it a little outside, but she’s a nice, gliding athlete when attacking the basket. I also like how she competes and plays with a physical nature, despite still needing to add more strength to her frame. She is a versatile defender as well.
Grace Scharlach

– Grace is a real talent, and she was a standout at the PGH Freshman Showcase. Sunday, she was equally as good, and she even looked more comfortable at times in her backyard. She is very athletic, already strong for her size, and she has skill. She has great touch outside, a nice pull-up jumper, plus she can absorb contact. Defensively, she uses her quickness and her physicality to contain just about anyone.

– If Grace (above) wasn’t enough, add Mya to Fremont’s backcourt, and the Lady Eagles are set for the next four seasons. Mya is an extremely long, wiry, and fluid/smooth guard. She definitely will need to get stronger, but she’s likely still growing a little. She does have a nice quickness/shiftiness to her game, and she was great in the 1-on-1 drills, running defenders in circles. She’s also a feisty defender herself.
