Three Prep Girls Hoops Top 250 Expos will take place around the country this weekend. One of them will take place in Alabama with the other two emanating from a pair of midwestern states in Nebraska and Wisconsin.
We begin our previews with a look at a few of the seniors from around the state that are looking to end their careers with an emphatic exclamation point.
There is nothing like that first offer – and Goode experienced that this summer when the Coyotes of Coastal Alabama extended one out to this supremely talented guard out of 7A Bob Jones. There is a reason – several – that Goode is in our top five overall for the entire state. Goode has been the centerpiece of winning seasons lately for the Patriots – the team finished with a 27-4 record in 2021-22 and a 28-4 mark last season. Versatility along with a willingness to get to the rim and deliver strong finishes are just one element of why Goode needs to be on every coach’s radar as she enters her swan song season at Bob Jones.
Diana Lewis
Diana Lewis
Lewis was part of a 5A Ramsay team last season that posted a 19-10 record in 2022-23. She brings junior varsity experience as well and is a multi-sport athlete who gets the job done on the softball diamond when her basketball exploits take a back seat. Lewis stands at 5-foot-7 and primarily operates as a three forward in the frontcourt. She understands how to anticipate passes and has a potent midrange jump shot. Her versatility enables her to be in scenarios where she can make plays that are indicative of playing the five or four. Lewis’ ball handling skills combined with her ability to attack the rim make her a tough task for defenses to contend with.
Our next profile takes us to the mountains of Alabama’s northern regions. Piscitelli is coming off an AAU campaign where she wore the uniform of Rocket City Ravens. Piscitelli stands at 5-foot-5 and she is very adept as a ball handler. She can get from one end of the floor to the other with the rock in her hand and can weave her way through a defense en route to a strong finish at the cup. Piscitelli understands the art of shooting the basketball from long range and has no issues drawing contact that can give herself – and her team – opportunities at the free throw line.
Highlights
The 2022-23 Wenonah rendition put together a banner season last season. Ringstaff’s Dragons finished with a mark of 20-9, making more waves among Alabama’s 5A girls basketball landscape. Ringstaff is looking for more of the same – and better – this season. She stands at 5-foot-6 and does much of her work as either a one or a two guard in the backcourt. Ringstaff plays with a high basketball IQ and her overall skills particularly shine through as a rim attacker. Two years ago, the Dragons sorely missed Ringstaff as she was on the shelf with an ACL injury, but she more than made up for lost time wearing the Wenonah black and gold last season.
