The Shore Conference, among others, reside in Central Jersey, so we are here to give this region its flowers and show it some love, discussing the top five prospects from the region in this article.
No. 1: Daniella Matus Daniella Matus 5'10" | CG St. John Vianney | 2025 State NJ – CG, St. John Vianney (No. 3 overall)
We begin this list with the top player in the Shore Conference in these rankings and arguably the best player in Central Jersey right now, Daniella Matus Daniella Matus 5'10" | CG St. John Vianney | 2025 State NJ . She’s the new lifeblood, the backbone of the St. John Vianney machine as it powers through another season. It seems like the Lancers always find a new player to take over as the team leader, and Matus, a Morris Catholic transfer, is the easy choice for this. She has the opportunity to move up into the No. 2 overall slot in the rankings as well.
No. 2: Tessa Carman Tessa Carman 5'11" | PF Red Bank Catholic | 2025 State NJ – PF, Red Bank Catholic (No. 10 overall)
Carman has done such a fantastic job of playing to her strengths and not shying away from a challenge on the floor. Hovering around the six-foot mark, she’s on par, height-wise, with a number of other forwards in the state, but do not let her current position fool you. She’s much more than just the traditional power forward and it’s shown in her agility, playmaking ability, stamina and aggression on the floor. Carman plays the game until the final buzzer sounds, and she’s going 110% that entire time.
No. 3: Mackenzie Teevan Mackenzie Teevan 6'4" | PF Holmdel | 2025 State NJ – PF, Holmdel (No. 15 overall)
Teevan has such a fantastic opportunity in front of her with Holmdel this season, a team that has seemingly been on the cusp for so long, but just hasn’t found that extra edge to get itself over the edge. Having a presence like her down low, a 6-4 forward that can do just about anything as a power forward, and makes great use of her height and body on the block has created so many organic mismatches. She punishes opponents on the boards and has excelled well offensively.
No. 4: Leah Crosby Leah Crosby 6'1" | SF Rutgers Prep | 2025 State NJ – SF, Rutgers Prep (No. 16 overall)
Crosby might have new surroundings, coming from St. Thomas Aquinas to Rutgers Prep, but the basketball stays the same. What might come as a culture shock for her is the caliber of opponents she’s almost certain to play this season in non-conference play, but knowing the gauntlet of opponents she’s played in the Shore, the challenge will be all the more enticing for her to take on. Crosby can play with the best of them, and has great hands, great basketball IQ and a love for the game many don’t.
No. 5: Christina Liggio Christina Liggio 5'8" | PG Red Bank Catholic | 2025 State NJ – PG, Red Bank Catholic (No. 20 overall)
We didn’t try to make this just a Shore Conference article remake, but when you have the best conference, you tend to produce the best players. Such is the case with the junior point guard for the Caseys upcoming, Liggio, someone who we think will be the featured guard for RBC this coming season. She’s certainly put in the work to have earned that, learning quite a bit from former teammates to be that general at the top of the key, there to direct the show and dominate the floor.
