was there last year and played minutes here and there and could compete for a starting job. Ava is a good ball-handler and an excellent shooter. She can create offense on her own, and even though she’s only 5’2, she is fearless.

as just an Honorable mention because she’s one of my favorite players to watch. There happens to be a lot of really high-level players at that position that I felt I needed to put over her. Either way, Catherine can play any position 1-4 and is about as versatile as they come. She is quick with a good handle at 6’1 and is all-around solid. She’s a hard player to guard and does many good things using her size. This season, you’ll sometimes see her playing forward, guard, and wing.

should play a factor in what this team does. Kayla is a knockdown shooter with range. She gets her shot off over people, and it’s hard to affect her shot. She always seems composed and never really gets thrown out of rhythm. She should still have a great year on a terrific Bishop Ireton team.
At this first guard spot, I have Raigan Mccalla. Raigan is a high-IQ basketball player who gets it done on both ends. She uses her length well defensively and understands the game so well. She knows where to be off the ball and stays disciplined while on it. Raigan is an excellent spot-up shooter and does well as a driver. She can play either guard position effectively as well. Flint Hill relied on Raigan a lot last year as a sophomore, and they’ll most likely look to her again this year.
Riley Hamburger Riley Hamburger 6’0″ | SG Paul VI | 2025 State VA ‘s role will undoubtedly be more significant this year on the offensive end. She has been a tremendous defender her first two years at PVI and has been the player they call on to guard the team’s best perimeter player. Riley has become a solid spot-up shooter and uses her length and skill to get to the rim. Riley is becoming a complete offensive player, and with PVI losing three starters, she will have to score more this year. She made a jump going into her Sophomore year last year, and I expect her to take another one this year.
Amirah Anderson Amirah Anderson 5’10” | SF Bishop Ireton | 2025 State VA has seemed to get better every time I watch her. Amirah was outstanding last season for Bishop Ireton, and she’s had an even better spring and summer. She is a terrific defender and is a playmaker on that end, creating turnovers. Amirah is a great spot-up shooter, and she scores the ball efficiently overall. I mentioned that Amirah creates a lot of turnovers, and it pairs perfectly with her ability to do a lot of damage in transition. Amirah’s also a tenacious rebounder; she is one of the better ones you’ll see at her size. She averaged almost nine a game last year.
Highlights
Another Bishop Ireton standout on this list is Nyla Brooks Nyla Brooks 6’2″ | SF Bishop Ireton | 2025 State VA . Nyla is not only one of the best players in Northern Virginia, she’s one of the best in Virginia, period. Nyla can play multiple positions and is a matchup nightmare. Her handle and skill at 6’2 are unbelievable, and when she gets to the rim, she has a lot of crafty ways to finish. She is a good jump shooter and has developed a nice floater. She is versatile defensively with her length and ability to move at her size. She is an elite talent that you don’t see every year. She’s going to Tennessee for a reason, and if you still have yet to watch her play, you are missing out!
At Center, I really like Eva Robertson Eva Robertson 6’3″ | PF Bishop O’Connell | 2025 State VA . Her transfer to Bishop O’Connell should be a great move for both her and O’Connell. Eva has excellent size at 6’3, and her rebounding on both ends will be super impactful. You can throw it down to her, and she will score using her size and skill. I love how Eva protects the paint, and I think people have slept on how good she will be this year. She also moves well and knocks down open jump shots occasionally. Eva should be one of the best bigs in the area this season.
