Large influxes usually cause the majority to slide some spots. But for some, strong play and scouting reports since last season’s end, plus a notable transfer out of the state, enabled some players to make a move up. Here’s a look at changes in the top 25.
Strong play and a top 10 talent moving out of state opened the door for moves in the top 10. Leading the way is Wichita Heights point guard Aniyah Harris Aniyah Harris 5'7" | PG Wichita Heights | 2026 State KS . The Wichita Southeast transfer showed up big at Wichita’s I-35 Showcase with her aggression, quickness, and physicality on both ends of the floor. She climbed into the top 10, advancing 9 spots to #5.
Eureka’s Brenna Rucker Brenna Rucker 5'9" | SG Eureka | 2026 State KS continues to turn heads. The high IQ shooter plays multiple spots on the floor. Her use of her frame and scoring ability were key to the Tornados run to the 3A state tournament last season. Moving up 3 spots to #6 she will be leading an arguably stronger team that has moved down to 2A.
A out-of-state transfer from Nebraska, small forward Macayla Askew Macayla Askew 6'0" | SF Derby | 2026 State KS will be a impact player for the now Addie Brown-less Derby Panthers. With terrific length, athleticism, and diverse scoring ability Askew will mix-in with the fleet of returning Panther bigs and take advantage of mismatches on the wing. She brings with her a reputation for being difficult to keep off the glass, stop from scoring, and hurting teams with her transition play. Askew advanced a spot to #16.
Clearwater power forward Justine Berlin Justine Berlin 5'11" | PF Clearwater | 2026 State KS started for Clearwater last season and usually played 28-30 minutes as part of a small varsity rotation. A long, fast shot-blocker with a growing mid-range and perimeter shooting game. She has very good feet on the defensive end. And as she continues to grow into her length and gain strength she has the potential to be one of the top defensive players in the state. Berlin moved into the top 25 by advancing 6 spots to #20.
While she is gaining lots of attention in volleyball people best be paying attention to what she does the great contact sport that is basketball. I am talking Inman combo guard Suttyn Harris Suttyn Harris 5'11" | CG Inman | 2026 State KS . While sliding up a single spot to #22, she is the number 3 2026 2A player in the class and in the top 5 at the position. Making a bunch of waves last season with her scoring ability, smart rebounding, and athleticism as a starter Harris is among the strong young talent all over the roster that are among my favorites to reach the state 2A tournament.
The final mover into the top 25 is Liberal power forward Shamari Lewis Shamari Lewis 6'0" | PF Liberal | 2026 State KS . A terrific athlete with a breadth of raw talent, Lewis has the potential to hit the top 10. With good size, length, speed, and physicality Lewis is already a player difficult to handle on the boards and on the move. Defensively she is a force at every spot in full-court defenses. Her anticipation to jump passing lanes is very good. A player to really watch as her game both sharpens and grows. She moved up 2 spots to #23.
