Many of the state’s top high school girls players will be on hand at the North Charleston Athletic Center to once again part in this year’s SCBCA Girls Elite Camp. It will occur on October 8 – a day after the boys have their turn at the mic.
We at Prep Girls Hoops will also be on hand in North Charleston. We began our preview series with a look at the 2024s that are scheduled to be there. Now, we turn our attention to 2025s.
Walker will be walking into her junior campaign under coach Terence Jones with a Denmark-Olar team that has been 1A runners-up the past couple of seasons. With the graduation of several 2023 seniors – including Dy’Neka Roberts and Aijalon Wroten, Walker will unquestionably be the focal point for the Vikings the next couple of seasons. Walker has become accustomed to the main indoor gym at Denmark-Olar as she also plays volleyball as an outside hitter and middle blocker. Walker primarily operates as either a one or two guard in the backcourt. She has played at the varsity level since she was an eighth grader and averaged 14.1 points, 8.7 rebounds and 3.8 steals per contest last season.

Harvey is one of the focal points for a Ridge View bunch coached by Terrence Gibson that made a pleasantly surprising deep in during last season’s 4A tournament. When basketball does not occupy the bulk of her athletic attention, said attention is turned to the track and field realm – including competing in the discus throw and the shot put. The Palmetto 76ers product thrives as a pure big who can play with her back to the basket. Rebounding on either end of the floor is another strong suit to her game. She nearly averaged a double-double last season at 9.8 points and 9.6 rebounds a game along with 1.5 steals. The goal for Harvey and her Blazers is to build on last season’s late season success.

Tiller refers to herself on social media as “Destinee The Great.” She seeks to be great in every single one of the sports she competes in. Her athletic plate is very full between basketball, softball, cross country and track. On the basketball court, Tiller has the potential to take over a game – as was the case last season in a 2A regional matchup between her Eau Claire Shamrocks and the visiting Fairfield Central Griffins. She dropped 34 points in what was a hard-fought matchup resulting in an Eau Claire 52-51 win over Fairfield Central. Tiller has played her travel basketball with SC Future.
We first discovered Ratchford during the 2021 travel season when she was transitioning out of Summit Parkway MS and into 5A Spring Valley. A mainstay of the Palmetto 76ers club program, her development has been a key reason why coach Megan Assey’s Vikings have experienced the success they have in recent years. Ratchford was part of a 2022-23 Spring Valley rendition that advanced to the 5A Upper State Final against eventual state champion Mauldin. Last season, she averaged 11.4 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 28 contests. Defense and hustle are among the strong points to her overall game.
Speaking of those 2A Fairfield Central Griffins we mentioned earlier, Yarborough is transitioning into veteran status with her team. Yarborough has played her travel ball with one of the premier AAU organizations in the Palmetto State in A’ja Wilson Elite. She has participated in varsity basketball since she was a seventh grader. Last season, she averaged 11.4 rebounds and 9.8 points, two steals and 1.2 blocks for a Griffins team that was one victory shy of the 2A Upper State final last season. Yarborough can give a team productive minutes either at the five as a pure center or at the four as a power forward.
