SubscribeSometimes the forgotten group in high school sport coverage is the signed group of seniors. The wonder and excitement of recruiting of over….and all that’s left…play one last season of high school basketball. Let’s checked in with signed seniors in the state and look into their individual situations for their senior year. Here’s who to know–and go watch them if you can!
Poole is a 5’11 wing from Oakland that’s signed with James Madison. When you watch Poole play, she just looks like a D1 kid. Lots of length and athleticism; dangerous out in the open floor in transition or attacking a closeout in the half court. Has really developed into a high level scorer; and it progressing in her playmaking abilities as well. Looking forward to watching Poole in her last season.
Sanchez, originally from the Dominican Republic, is a signed ’24 (University of Miami) playing for Webb-Bell Buckle. If you’re only a casual fan, you would have heard more from except her AAU club is a BIG TIME exposure team from New York City…so she’s playing all over the US more so than the south east.
She’s a legit 6’4 with a college made build ready to battle in the paint. She’s terrific defensively as a game changing presence. Offensively, she’s got soft hands and both power and finesse post moves. She’s one of the elite bigs in the country. Watch her if you get a chance!
Melton, signed with Lipscomb, is entering her last season with Central Magnet. She’s long been known as one of the purest shooters in her class. She was an All-State guard last year, and had bigger offers, but fit was likely a huge part of her story. Look for Melton to play fearless basketball now that recruiting is long behind her, and just shoot it! Pure scorer as you’ll see…
Highlights
This two time defending state champ has signed with Coach Insell and MTSU. After twice guiding McKenzie to state championships (can they get a 3rd??), this will be a fascinating year for Davis. Davis is already a Miss Basketball award winner….and there isn’t much she can do. Except keep winning, and keep averaging 19 pts on 42% from 3, with 7 rebounds. Davis has been playing basketball at an incredibly high level year round for a few seasons….and this is just a warm up for enrolling at MTSU in the summer and beginning to compete for minutes.
Flowers (Blackman) recently announced her commitment to FGCU. Flowers is as electric a ’24 guard as you will watch this season. Possessing lighting quickness, and elite change of speeds, Flowers is a high level playmaker. Flowers won a TON of games at Blackman, and is a terrific 2 way guard. If you get a chance to watch her, do it.
