The girls high school basketball season official kicks off over these next two weeks for most teams throughout the state. While having some time to prepare for this year, I have put together a list of a handful of competitors that will be considered for our Miss Nebraska Basketball POTY. Each player is someone that is monumental in the success of their perspective team, while also being absolutely dominate in most facets of the game across the board.

Please note: This award, depending on who is giving it, usually only accounts for players competing during their Senior seasons. That will NOT be the case in this situation. Any player, from any grade level is fair game and has a chance to win.

One of the best players throughout the state of Nebraska, is someone that has progressed at an impressive rate over the past few seasons. She has stayed dedicated in her offseason work and kept grinding when things became the toughest. The player that I am referring to is [player_tooltip player_id='278024' first='McKenna' last='Murphy'] of Elkhorn North high school. Murphy is a Colorado State Women's basketball commit and one hell of a competitor. At the shooting guard position is where Murphy excels over most that she comes across and I'm sure that is going to be the case this season as well. While teams are blessed to have one player like this one on their roster at the high school level, this Elkhorn North team has two, the other being [player_tooltip player_id='276503' first='Britt' last='Prince']. With the ability of Prince at the PG position, it opens up so many things for Murphy and the other teammates on the floor. It creates spacing and the chance to take their opponents with limited help coming from the defense. This recent offseason, Murphy took several college visits trying to figure out her future. In the end, she decided to go with the Rams over all. Something I'm sure she is excited about but not enough to get her distracted from putting together a great Senior year. If she stays locked in for this last go around of high school ball, they are going to have a successful winter and she is going to be a top candidate in the Miss Nebraska Basketball debate for the 2023-2024 season.
