When I first had the chance to watch Myleigh Weers Myleigh Weers 5’9″ | PG Diller-Odell | 2025 State NE compete at the beginning of this season, I was blown away by her skill and ability on the hardwood. Weers, a 5’9 PG, is seasoned in her game in several different aspects. She can handle with the best of them in the open court, she can score at will against most opponents but doesn’t like to settle, she can create and distribute to others, and she can defend full-court for an entire contest. In this update, Weers fall into our Top 10 out of the 2025 Class. I would be hard pressed to find a more serious competitor throughout this Class. Her mixture of skill and demeanor is going to take her to the collegiate level when her high school career comes to an end. Where to? I’m not exactly sure yet but she already holds a handful of offers and that list is only going to grow until she commits.
Rease Murtaugh Rease Murtaugh 5’8″ | PG Papillion-LaVista | 2025 State NE puts up impressive numbers for whatever team she is lacing up with, wether that be at the high school level or at the travel level. When she takes the floor, the opposing team needs to tag her as someone who can change the outcome of a game in a hurry because of her out-put. When breaking down Murtaugh’s game, the best way to describe it is quick and efficient. She does a good job of making the right choices whenever the ball is rotated to her, leading to a lot of success for herself and everyone else around her. Offensively, she can do a lot of positive things but her best ability is to shoot the ball. Whenever she lets it go from deep with some space, it looks like it’s going in. Defensively, she holds her own. She has good knowledge of when to go for a steal compared to when she should sit back and let the offense bring the ball to her. To start this season, Murtaugh is leading her high school team by example. As long as she can continue to be productive, this team will continue to find success.

The natural mixture of size, athleticism, and skill of Ayana Owens Ayana Owens 5’9″ | CG Lincoln | 2025 State NE is eye-opening. She has demonstrated the ability to score in consistent ways, the ability to produce off of the dribble and the ability to switch on defense against a smaller guard or a bigger post player while holding her own. A player like this, that is producing each and every high school game at this point, is going to go places if she stays dedicated. Every game she comes into, she wants the smoke and isn’t going to backdown from anyone that stands in the way of her goals. In this Update, Owens cracks our Top 15 at the #13 spot. Not a bad place to be but I know she won’t be satisfied. If she can continue to produce at a high level, while her team is competing each contest to their fullest, she is going to jump up these rankings in a matter of no time. Like I said above, staying locked in is key. If she can do that, it’s all going to work out in the end.

Millard North High School is stacked with talent when it comes to girls high school basketball. To give you an idea, they have several players who don’t see the floor too often because of how good their roster is, that would start at most other places throughout the state. This can be mentally draining and wear on a players mind but I think that this group does a great job of sticking together and competing. One of their main contributors to start this season is Sara Harley Sara Harley 5’9″ | SG Millard North | 2025 State NE . I’ve had the chance to see Harley a handful of times prior to this high school season and each time she stood out. Wether it was scoring it from all over or getting stops on defense, whatever she was doing, she was succeeding. Looking forward, Harley has a bright future pertaining to basketball. She is someone that could come in and produce right away in the right college system.
Matthea Dalton Matthea Dalton 5’10” | PF Fremont | 2025 State NE may not be a name that you are familiar with throughout the state of Nebraska but you should be moving forward. Dalton is a 5’11 Forward for Fremont High School and a handful in the paint. Someone that is one of the leaders in the 2025 Class throughout the state in both scoring and rebounding up until this point. With Dalton’s mixture of size and her motor in general, it’s not crazy to think that she will keep this up the rest of the season. Her team has solid pieces, she has good knowledge of the game, and she works hard. Sounds like a recipe for success if you ask me. Don’t get me wrong, her game still needs some work but she is definitely on the right path moving forward.
