This event was in honor of the late great Billy Hicks, who is widely known as the winningest coach in Kentucky high school hoops history. The iconic coach compiled 1,013 in his career and won two state titles at Scott County High School.
Below are my impact players from this event.
French played well throughout the entire event and made her case as one of the top 26’s in the state. She is a gifted passer with incredible court vision, I like that she always had her head up in transition looking to reward her teammates for running the floor. French also took full advantage of her open looks, going 6 for 9 from beyond the arc. She finished the game with a team-high 18 points and dished several assists in the first game against Great Crossing.
Highlights
Ginn competed hard on both ends of the floor, she played with a lot of poise and control making sure to run the offense and get everyone involved. Ginn also did a good job attacking the basket off the dribble if she was played to tight and made shots from the perimeter when she was given too much space. What impressed me the most was her scrappy on-ball defense, she applied pressure and made ball handlers uncomfortable, which led to steals and turnovers.
Stats in all 3 games:rn11 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, 1 block.
17 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals.
9 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals, 1 block.
Highlights
Watching Laci Sandlin Laci Sandlin 5’9″ | SF Madison Southern | 2026 State KY play for the first time, I immediately knew that she was a special talent that has the potential and tools to play at the next level. Sandlin is a versatile scorer that is good at finding her sweet spots on the floor where she knows she can be most effective. She is a also a dangerous shooter from deep, I witnessed her score a career-high 37 points, etching herself in the record books at Madison Southern for the most points scored in a single game.
Jada Cummins
Jada Cummins
Cummins played very well at the Billy Hicks Classic, and showed why she is one of the top players in the 8th region. She is a strong guard with good size and strength, that can score from all three levels, and has a knack for getting to the rim and finishing through contact. In the first game against Madison Southern she went off for a team-high 24 points leading Grant County to victory 50-47.

Harrison had the best overall performance at the Billy Hicks Classic. In a game 3 matchup against rival Scott County, Harrison imposed her will around the rim and on the low block, and did a fantastic job cleaning the glass. She finished the game with a team-high 32 points and pulled down 21 rebounds, and was named the Georgetown Community Hospital player of the game.
