Collins was a bright spot in a tough game against East Kentwood. She has imposing length and athleticism. In a game when Collins couldn’t find the ball in the open floor, she did other things successfully to try to help her team. She challenged and blocked more than a handful of shots. Collins’ team may have had an off day, but it was still more than obvious that she’s a special prospect.

Brandywine won a thrilling matchup against Blissfield. A key to this game was the tough matchup that Brumitt provided. She had a vertical game that caused issues through the course of the game. In a contest where every basket and every rebound were critical, Brumitt seemed to step up and provided key buckets and boards.
Collins has a much deserved reputation as a big game player and she did it again yesterday. Her team fell in a great game against Brandywine, but she had Collins-like effort in the contest. Collins paced her team with a game high 20 points and grabbed a bunch of boards chasing the ball down from the perimeter.

Fealko had a solid game and an excellent first half in the loss to Romulus. She was more than comfortable with the ball in her hands and was able to attack the D off the bounce. Fealko made Romulus force the ball out of her hands. She scored on a pretty drive and spin move to a finish and showed very strong hands on a cut to the rim, a catch in traffic and a floater to finish for 2 points.

Romulus will lose some high quality guard play after this season, but Hines showed that the cupboard is anything but bare. She has a chance to be a really good lead guard judging from yesterday’s performance. Hines defended well and was able to lock down and force turnovers. She had the speed with the ball needed to convert those turnovers into points on the other end. Hines also showed the ability to penetrate the lane and dish off to teammates in scoring positions.
East Kentwood picked up a very impressive win in a true team style. They had so many players that contributed in so many ways. Porter-Wilson was a great example of that. It felt like she could have dominated with offensive statistics, but instead she took what was there and let the stats pile up in all categories including points, rebounds and steals. Porter-Wilson has the chance to be an elite defender as well.
