Continue ReadingThis week, PGH Tennessee dropped “The Watch List” for the 2027 freshman class. From this list, of course a numerical ranking will be developed at the end of the year. The point of the watch list is to see what girls from this class do work on the high school hardwood this current season.
We know this class comes into the year with some clout. The girls competed on a high level in travel ball, played a favorable middle school schedule, and now its off to high school ranks. Last article, we identified some young ladies who were the headliners of this class. Now, let’s talk about some young hoopers whose stocks will be rising not only this year, but throughout the course of their high school career.
The ‘27 class is a special bunch of girls who can flat out play. Where and how they contribute is up to their coaches, but you better believe when its all said and done, this class will be pretty darn good. From having size to dynamic guard play, the young pups of the 27 class are some bucket fillers.
Though the season is still young and in reality everyone’s stock will rise, here are some young ladies who are busting out the gates and ready to show all of Tennessee what they are made of.
Check out a few stock risers from the 2027 class.
Marley Spiers Marley Spiers 6'3" | C Clarksville Christian | 2027 State TN (6’3/C/ Clarksville Christian)– Big problem in the paint, you talking about taking up real estate, Marley does just that. She’s the anchor in the middle, being a nuisance on the defensive end. From controlling the boards, blocking shots, she’s a huge problem that team’s find difficult to work around. Offensively, she’s a great back to the basket player, unleashing a nice over the shoulder move. If she buries you on the block, good luck. Has great footwork around the blocks and plenty of county moves that enable her to score at will. Oh, and she’s good from the short corner and elbow areas. Great prospect who is always looking to dominate her opponent.
Aubriyana Camp Aubriyana Camp 5'7" | SG Chattanooga Christian School | 2027 State TN (5’7/G/ Chattanooga Christian)– Silent assassin who is phenomenal with the ball in her hands. Has a quick first step that enables her to get downhill and into her floater game or come off screens dropping that pull up of hers. She’s shifty and hard to contain. She’s a heady ball player who has a great feel for pressure. She makes the right play at the right time, making it easy for her teammates to operate or get shots off in a timely manner. She can not only score, but make assists is also a big part of her game. She shares the rock and the energy and excitement from her and her teammates shows how much fun they are having out there. Oh, she defends, fast break points are also a thing of hers. Look for her to continue on an upwards trajectory and do work on opponents both near and far.
Kay Kay Strayhorn (5’8/G/ Dyersburg)– Shifty combo guard who has nice handles. She’s a downhill threat, attacking gaps and finishing against contact. However, she does have a nice floater game to go along with her ability to drain it from the outside. Isn’t afraid to sit down and guard as her defense becomes her offense quickly with her ability to get steals. She’s a heady ball player who contributes not only in the scoring column but can make perfectly timed assists as well. Great prospect who will continue to rise.
Jules Ferrell Jules Ferrell 5'7" | PG Coffee County Central | 2027 State TN (5’9/G/ Coffee County)- Dynamic guard who has a knack for being around the ball and making the right plays. Offensively, she can get paint touches with ease or unleash her sweet stroke from the arc. Defensively, she anticipates well, jumping passing lanes, poking balls loose, finishing in transition. She’s a gamer and she comes to play every single time she steps on the floor.
Payton Rollins Payton Rollins 5'8" | PG South Doyle | 2027 State TN (5’8/CG/ South Doyle)– Clutch. Ice in her veins. She’s a ballplayer who just shows up and shows out. She’s a tough competitor who just goes hard on every possession. Payton has phenomenal court vision, allowing her to attack gaps to get downhill or put an opponent on skates to unleash her step back. She can pull it from the arc, but getting in between the thickets is what she does best. Great passer, awesome communicator, locks up on D, she’s a ball player who is looking to take the league by storm. She does a little bit of everything so expect her to contribute in multiple statistical categories. Great kid with a tremendously bright future.

PCA | 2027

TN
(6’1/F/PCA)– One of the top sleepers in the class, Gabby is a ball player who defies the odds. With her size, she can play on the inside, knocking down back to the basket shots and short corner shots. She’s great in the pick n’ pop game, setting solid picks and finishing with ease. However, she has a 3pt game she will pull out, unleashing a nice stroke from the arc. Defensively she is big on the boards, can block shots, and make it hard for opponents to operate. Once she gains even more confidence in her game, look for her to help lead the Lady Lions of PCA to even great heights. Great kid with a lot of potential.
