The Clarkston Wolves and Haslett Vikings played a fast-paced, back-and-forth thriller that came down to the final buzzer. The Wolves came away with a 45-43 victory in the most exciting game I have seen during this young winter season. Here are the prospects who shined brightest.
Claire Walker Claire Walker 5’4″ | CG Clarkston | 2024 State MI provided the offensive sharp shooting the Wolves needed to pull off the victory Saturday. She scored 17 and buried 5 triples from spots all over the three point arc. Claire came up huge for the Wolves as she drilled a three pointer late to tie the game. Claire rebounded the ball, passed up contested shots to keep the ball circulating, and was a dependable ball handler under pressure. Claire’s poise as a senior helped Clarkston earn a big victory Saturday.
Brooklyn Covert Brooklyn Covert 5’7″ | CG Clarkston | 2027 State MI handled the ball under pressure for the Wolves Saturday. She made key plays for Clarkston on both sides of the ball, which inevitably led to winning the game. Brooklyn hit a corner 3, stole multiple passes, dribbled into a pull-up jumper, and created space with her dribble under pressure. Brooklyn saved her best play for last. She broke the press, outracing the entire defense to the rim and scored a floater in the closing seconds to win the game for Clarkston. Brooklyn scored 11 and showed her competitive determination to make an outstanding play when it mattered most.
Christina Dixon Christina Dixon 5’10” | SG Haslett | 2026 State MI played a phenomenal game for the Haslett Vikings Saturday. Christina showed off her athleticism: blocking shots, leaping for rebounds, splitting defenders, and finishing tough shots at the rim. Christina has the handles to create space and the speed to attack through multiple defenders. She deflected passes and beat opponents to loose balls, and scored beyond the 3 point arc. Christina led the way with 15 points for the Vikings and is an impressive prospect to watch for the Vikings.
Durrgen McIntosh Durrgen McIntosh 5'11" | PF Haslett | 2024 State MI
Durrgen McIntosh Durrgen McIntosh 5'11" | PF Haslett | 2024 State MI
Durrgen McIntosh Durrgen McIntosh 5’11” | PF Haslett | 2024 State MI (2024) is a lengthy 5’11 strong power forward for Haslett. She absolutely battled inside for rebounds on both ends and created turnovers with her excellent defensive positioning/body control. Durrgen protected the rim, blocking shots for the Vikings. She finished layups in transition, scored put backs around the rim, and used a drop step to finish a layup. Durrgen vocally leads the defense in the middle and is an excellent 2024 prospect for the Vikings.
