Teams traveled from across the state to compete in the inaugural classic hosted by Wood Elite . Here are some of the top performers on the day.
Rogers is a special talent. The way she takes over the game and can score at will at any time. A player that can shoot the deep 3 ball but also get to the rim and score through contact. She creates matchup problems all over the court and continues to get better every time she steps on the floor. One of the top 2027s in the state.
Adbus-Salaam is a playmaker. She plays the game with so much energy and is always smiling. An exciting player to watch especially when she is banging inside through the contact. Showed her ability to bring the ball up the court as well as shoot the 3 ball. A player that knows how to secure the rebounds on the offensive and defensive end. She is the spark for her Sequoyah team.
Highlights
Vick is a high IQ guard and floor general. Great handles and the ability to get downhill quickly. Always working away from the ball but also loves having the ball in her hands down the stretch. A player that knows how to read the defense and get everyone in the right positions. She finished the day with 18 points.
Arnold is a playmaker on both ends of the floor. Her hustle and knack for the ball is what kept her Cartersville team in the game. A player that caught fire late and knocked down plenty of clutch baskets down the stretch. High IQ guard that can score at will. She finished the game with 16 points.
Bleisath is a force to be reckon with on the low block. Her ability to rebound and keep it high makes it hard to keep her out of the scoring column. A player that knows how score at the rim but can also shoot the 3 ball consistently which allows her to stretch the defense. Tough rebounder who ended the day with 13 points.
Highlights
Moody is a showstopper that never gets tired. A player that brings the energy from start to finish. She knocked 4 triples against St. Francis and continued to be the consistent scorer for Cherokee. Her ability to want the ball in her hands down the stretch is what stood out to me. She also showed her ability to score from all 3 levels. Look for her to be one of the top guards in the state. Finished with 22 points.
Roberts is the engine for her Adairsville team. A player that does all the little things that may not show up in the stat book. She keeps plays alive with her ability to rebound and get to the foul line. Knows how to get downhill and finish at the rim. She finished with 15 points on the day.
