Continue ReadingComing out of break can sometimes mean sloppy play, slow pace throughout a game, and just overall bad basketball but for some, it’s the opposite. Sometimes, there are players out there who demonstrate that they are ready to finish off their season with a bang and on a strong note. In the article below, we are going to take a look back at some of the standout performances from the first Tuesday night back in action.
Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
One of the premier Juniors throughout the state, who is going to be a household name the next few years on both the high school floor and collegiate floor, is Abby Tuttle Abby Tuttle 5’8″ | SG North Polk | 2025 State IA of North Polk. On Tuesday night, Tuttle led her Comets team to a major win against #14 ranked Ballard High School. Tuttle’s skill is nothing short of spectacular and she is someone that has demonstrated that her entire high school career. In this specific contest, she ended with 19 points on 5-11 shooting, 4 Rebounds, 4 Steals, and 2 Assists. This wasn’t the best game of Tuttle’s season but one that she can be proud of. With the weapons that this Comet’s team has, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them at the State tournament at the end of this season. They have the personal and coaching, they just need some things to fall in their favor such as seeding and they will be able to make a run before this year is said and done. As for Tuttle, If she continues to expand her game over the next season or so, she is going to get a chance to see the floor at UNI. She is smart enough with the skill and physical tools. All she will needs is a chance.
Brittany Bacorn

Knoxville High School has a girls program that is on a steady rise. They have a handful of quality players, that have helped them make a winning impact so far this season and I’m expect that to stay consistent moving forward. One of their best upperclassmen is Small Forward, Brittany Bacorn. Bacorn had 20 points in her teams loss last night coming out of break. It’s never great to lose but you have to take the good with the ball. The good is Bacorn played smart and looked consistent. She was a force near the rim, cleaning up the mess on both sides of the floor and making an impact in any way she possibly could. I would wonder what Bacorn’s future might hold on the hardwood but she is already committed to attend Tulsa on a Volleyball scholarship this fall. Which makes sense, she has natural size, athleticism, and knowledge of what is going on around her. As for the rest of this season, this team could make their case for a promising end of their year. They are good enough. They have a stud Freshman PG, Bacorn in the paint, and some guards around them who I’ve seen make some positive plays. From everything I’m noticing, they just need to continue on their path and stay positive through it all.
It’s starting to become a theme where we mention Macy Comito each week but she has really been that good this season. Last night in her Carlisle’s team victory, Comito recorded 24 points on 49% shooting, while also stripping away 10 steals. We see a lot of double-double’s across the state in the girls game but usually with Points-Rebounds. It’s more rare to see it with Assists, Steals, or Blocks so when it happens, it should be talked about. Comito is a Power-5 level talent. The best part about her game is how she doesn’t have too many weaknesses and she is only a Sophomore. If she can continue to expand and grow moving forward, she is going to continue to produce and going to continue to be a top ranking player in her 2026 Class throughout the state. Her game translates to the collegiate level in a number of ways already, so I’m excited to see where she can take it.
Alli Clark Alli Clark 5’7″ | CG Iowa City-Regina | 2024 State IA and Regina Catholic has started off this season as many would expect. They are winning most of their matchups by a convincing margin and making it look easy while doing it. On Tuesday night, Clark scored a game leading 21 points on 9-11 shooting and she tallied 8 rebounds in her teams 25 point win. Clark has some talent. She is someone that we have covered over the past two years because of how much she has stepped up within this program. When teams take away the Regals main options, Clark has always been great at making herself available. She is cutting to the hoop, flashing across her defenders face, and working hard defensively to stop her matchup from scoring. If Regina wants to get back to the state tournament this season, Clark is going to be their second option and other main piece that has to be successful, next to their star PG – Morgan Miller Morgan Miller 5’9″ | PG Iowa City Regina | 2025 State IA . If those two can continue to do, what they have done so far this season and everyone else steps up near the basket, they could make another run at Des Moines but we will have to wait and see how things play out.
The player with possibly the best stat line from Tuesday night across the state is Molly Shafer Molly Shafer 6’0″ | PF Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont | 2025 State IA of Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont High School. EBF has started off this season with a 9-1 record and a big reason for that is because of the play of Molly Shafer Molly Shafer 6’0″ | PF Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont | 2025 State IA in the middle. Shafer is a multiple sport athlete, that has a promising future at the collegiate level in more than one sport. Last night, Shafer scored 27 points on 11-19 shooting and 6 assists. This stat line helped lead the Rockets to a 25+ point win against Knoxville. The Shafer sisters are the real deal as a duo. Like I said above about Molly, they are both athletic and very good once they have a goal in mind. If they aren’t scoring, they are being productive in other ways and that shows each night. EBF is definitely a team we will see at State this season as long as they take care of their own business and the schedule in front of them. They are really good and a team that will be talked about all the way until the end of the year.
