Rossini has always been my type of point guard because even before high school, she understood some things that are very important and that’s how to control the tempo as well as getting her teammates involved. Her skill-set coupled with being “heady” and handling pressure was in full effect last night as she not only scored off the dribble as well as from deep, she saw the floor and made the right decisions. I was elated after one of her teammates hit a 3, on the very next possession, Rossini looked for, and set her up to drop another, that’s why the game has and always will start at the 1
Shaniya Williams
Shaniya Williams
Williams is an athletic guard that understands how to use her athleticism on both ends of the court. Her “on the ball” pressure baseline to baseline helped to create turnovers while her defense in the set was smothering at times. She also did a good job of attacking the basket, with either hand and finishing strongly after contact yet her playing the passing lane also got her some buckets. She rebounded, on both ends, even handled the ball in the open court afterward
Emily Zaccardo
Emily Zaccardo
Zaccardo showed something very important, she could knock down shots with a hand in her face. Her long ball looked good, so did her midrange yet she patiently set the defender up to get her shot off. Her decision making was solid, she didn’t force shots but she did a good job attacking the basket along with seeing the floor
Cloud found ways to bring sunshine so let me star with her being “long and athletic” which IS and will ALWAYS be the base. Her first step is very nice, she does a good job of getting to the rim and her upside is one of the reasons I have her on the 2027 Watchlist yet watching her rebound and go coast to coast while being defended was nice, she rebounds on both ends by the way, and she did a good job defensively, both in and outside the paint.
Highlights
Bookman has made a dramatic JUMP since the PGH Freshman Showcase and all I could say was wow as she played the passing lane along with rebounding and going coast to coast to score. She also scored off the dribble, showed nice body control after contact as well as dished off the dribble yet her court vision and decision making was solid. She also created her shot under pressure to drop and showed the stop and pop in transition
Dylaney Gullage
Dylaney Gullage
Gullage gave me a nice first look and with her “college ready frame” she passed the eye test immediately. She has very good upside because of her size and strength yet she does things fluidly around the basket on the offensive end. She did a good job of getting position which helped enable her to rebound on both ends, her interior defense was also nice as she showed nice lateral movement. She also keeps her hands up and ran the floor on both ends
