Below I have listed the players who stood out to me in the final game of the day as GRC made an epic 10-point comeback to get the victory against Holy Cross(Covington) 59-57.
Yeast performed at a very high level in this matchup, she played lockdown defense on the perimeter and came up with several steals. She also scored well in transition and hit 2 clutch free throws to give GRC the lead with just seconds left in the game, finishing with 11 points, 5 rebounds and earned Player of the Game.
It was just another day in the office for Anaya Chestnut Anaya Chestnut 5’7″ | CG George Rogers Clark | 2026 State KY . Her effort on both ends of the floor was critical for GRC. She played unselfish and did a good job finding open teammates, racking up several assists in the game. Chestnut also played excellent on-ball defense and showed poise in the 4th quarter, knocking down a clutch 3-pointer from the wing that kept her team in the game.
Highlights
Julia Hunt Julia Hunt 6’1″ | C Holy Cross (Covington) | 2024 State KY imposed her will on offense and defense throughout the entire game. Her ability to protect the rim made it hard for GRC to get anything inside. Hunt was relentless on the glass and showed off some pretty post moves on the low block. Hunt led the way in points with 19 and rebounds with 11.
Green stepped up in a big way and was the main scoring threat for GRC in this game. She played with confidence and did a great job finding ways to get a bucket, showing that she is a 3-level scorer. “JG” made an impact on defense as well by coming up with steals and getting the ball to open teammates on the fast break for layups the other way. She led all scorers with 15 points along with 7 boards.
Carter did a great running the point and never looked rattled by the constant pressure by GRC. She’s a superb ball handler with phenomenal speed and quickness that allows her to get an where she wants on the court. Carter impacted the game in many ways, she came up with steals on defense and on offense she did a good job drawing contact inside and making shots from the perimeter, finishing with 14 points in the game.
Miller came out the gates hot and made an immediate impact when she entered the game. She started off attacking the basket scoring with a nice left hand finish at the rim followed by a corner three-pointer on the next possession. Miller was solid on the defensive end and ran the floor well in transition. She finished with 10 points in the game.
