We are used to seeing some pretty eye-opening numbers in this sport at the high school level, no matter where you are located throughout the country. I think the most impressive number so far this season in the state of Iowa coming out of break is the rebounding numbers Emma Boswell Emma Boswell 5’11” | SF Orient-Macksburg | 2026 State IA of Orient-Macksburg High School is averaging per game. Currently, Boswell is grabbing 19.8 rebounds per game. To say this is a lot would be an understatement. For someone whose team averages between 40-60 rebounds a contest as a whole, to grab 19-20 individual is impressive. This number displays not only that she is very good at knowing where the ball is going to be off of a missed shot but also demonstrates that she has a high motor and will not quit on a play. Boswell is apart of the powerhouse 2026 Class that the state of Iowa holds. As long as she can continue to produce like this, there is no doubt that she will be receiving some collegiate interest before her high school career comes to an end. I’m not sure if that is her ultimate goal but I’m going to venture and say that she will have some options.

I have never had the opportunity to see Kadence Huck Kadence Huck CG Nashua-Plainfield | 2025 IA compete live and in person but from her numbers, she is someone that has been killing it this year for her Nashua-Plainfield team. Huck has been her teams leader in every positive category this winter, giving it her all from the Guard position. On average, Huck is stealing away the ball 7.7 times per game. That leads the state by a wide margin for this category. When it comes to defense and knowledge of what is going on, Huck thrives. She has quick hands, understands her opponents weakness, and isn’t afraid to take risks. The Huskies season hasn’t necessarily started how they would have liked but coming out of break they are looking to turn a new leaf. They have a good player in Huck and some other pieces that could help out a team. If they keep their eye on the prize, they could end off their season on a positive note.
Grace Knutson Grace Knutson 5’10” | SG Cedar Falls | 2024 State IA is one of the state’s premier shooters and has been for quite a few years now. Knutson, the Drake Women’s basketball commit, is going to be a vital piece to her teams success this season in their attempts to get to a State Title. To begin this year and going into break, Cedar Falls has been holding their own and killing their competition. Knutson is averaging a state leading 4.4 three point shot makes per game and I expect that to continue. When you have a talented player that Knutson, with her ability to shoot it like she does, you have to give her as many open attempts as you can in your offense. I feel that this group has done that, not only this season so far but throughout the past few years so I wouldn’t expect anything to change up now. She does average about 10-12 attempts from three point land each game but that’s what is going to happen when you possess the talent that she does in this category.
Springville High School may play 1A basketball but they always have one or two players that impress me each season. They put up big numbers, which can somewhat be deceiving but once I see them live and in action, they always look the part. The state leader in PPG so far this season is their 6’2 Center, Rowan Jacobi Rowan Jacobi 6’2″ | PF Springville | 2026 State IA . Jacobi is naturally gifted with size but that doesn’t always mean that someone is naturally good at basketball or even coordinated in their everyday life but in this case, Jacobi is. She has coordination, length, balance, and is very knowledgeable about what is going on around her. I’ve even seen her bring up the ball off of a rebound and attack from the perimeter. All in all, I’m very impressive with her production and play so far this season. She has collegiate level ability with her mixture of everything. Recruiting wise, once she gets in-front of the right eyes, she is going to be in high demand.
Highlights
Newell-Fonda has put together another successful start to their season this winter and a big reason for that is the play of McKenna Sievers McKenna Sievers 5’4″ | SG Newell-Fonda | 2024 State IA . Sievers is averaging just over 8 assists per game coming out of break and looking to handle business the rest of this season. Sievers has always had a special ability to make things happen around her and that has been on full display this season. Not only is she creating and facilitating but she is also getting her own at a consistent rate as well while her team is winning. When you combine all of this together, it makes you really happy if you are a Newell-Fonda fan. Everything seems to be clicking right now and it’s only going to go up from here with this type of production.
