Centreville
Centreville had two excellent road wins this week against James Madison and Oakton. Madison and Oakton are terrific defensive teams and not easy to play. Centreville beat both and did so with their high-level defense. They beat Oakton by 1 in a hard-fought game on Tuesday. Then, on Friday, they beat a James Madison team starting to play better by 20. Centreville’s ability to play this kind of defense while being loaded with offensive talent is big, and they impressed me this week.
Osbourn Park
If I picked one team with the best week, I would pick Osbourn Park. Osbourn Park went a ridiculous 5-0 this week and had a great win against one of the best teams in the state in James River. They won all their games by at least 13+ points, and their first four games of the week were blowouts. Their win on Saturday over James River Midlothian was icing on the cake of a terrific week. You rarely see a team win 5 games in 6 days, and Osbourn Park did that easily.
Briar Woods
Briar Woods is another team that got a huge win this weekend. They beat an excellent Highland Springs team by 8 to cap off a 4-0 week. They started their week with two blowout wins over Independence and Pot Falls. Then they beat a really good Riverside team in a game that was pretty competitive for three quarters. Highland Springs’s only two losses heading into this game were to two of the top 4 teams in the state. Highland Springs is a top-10 team, and Briar used a strong 4th quarter to beat them. Briar is a team full of seniors and is now 16-1.
Potomac School
Potomac School is another team that went 4-0 this week. They hadn’t played a game in over two weeks, so I’m sure they were more than eager to play this week. They beat Holy Child in a close game on Monday, then cruised the rest of the week. Potomac School has so much talent in every position and has players who understand their roles. I checked out their one-sided win over Flint Hill on Saturday, and it capped off an impressive week.
