Continue ReadingWith the season winding down and coming to an end, I will start to take a look into each of the classes top teams within the entire. State tournaments are looming and there will be champions crowned. Who are some teams to watch?
Mead HS: 14-1 – Their one loss is to 1A powerhouse Nooksack Valley, who is an extremely tough team to beat. This team wins convincingly often and have a top team in the state each year. They have defeated Davis, Chiawana, Arlington, and other teams who are up there with the top in the state. Mead is lead by seniors Teryn Gardner Teryn Gardner 5'8" | PG Mead | 2024 State WA and Brynn Smith Brynn Smith 5'11" | SG Mead | 2024 State WA along with many underclassman contributing for the squad.
Arlington HS: 13-2 – Arlington started off the season with a big win against a talented Lake Stevens team and also defeated Cedarcrest, Lynnwood, and Lake Washington. Samara Morrow Samara Morrow 5'8" | PG Arlington | 2024 State WA is a phenomenal guard who can score the ball well but also play elite defense. Kierra Reese Kierra Reese 6'0" | SF Arlington | 2025 State WA is a wing who adds length and leadership for the squad.
Meadowdale HS: 14-2 – Gia Powell Gia Powell 5'8" | CG Meadowdale | 2024 State WA is a senior who knows how to lead a team. She scores the ball well and finishes at the rim at a high rate. She is headed to Brown University after this year and is one of the top three point shooters in the state. Meadowdale has an impressive wins over Lynden Christian, Arlington, and Lake Washington.
Lake Washington HS: 12-3 – Lake Washington is a team who is always competitive within the top teams and always yields talent on the court. Ashley Uusitalo Ashley Uusitalo 5'9" | SG Lake Washington | 2026 State WA is a 2026 graduate who knows how to put the ball in the bucket. Paige Citron Paige Citron 5'7" | CG Lake Washington | 2025 State WA is a 5’8″ guard who makes a big time difference when on the court. Julia Benthin Julia Benthin 5'8" | CG Lake Washington | 2027 WA has been playing as one of the top 2027’s in the entire state.
