Propelling Cleveland to a very strong season, Malia Waiwaiole Malia Waiwaiole 5’7″ | SG Cleveland | 2024 State OR has been one of the stars for the Warriors. The crafty guard has excellent hands on the defensive end to rack up the steals, and is an elite finisher around the rim, even through contact. In her last two games, she finished with 12 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals against McDaniel, and then 23 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, and 5 steals in a huge performance over Lincoln. Waiwaiole has a high IQ and plays at a consistently high pace.
Another guard to know off of the 2024 rankings is Barlow’s Kylie Ihrig Kylie Ihrig 5’7″ | PG Barlow | 2024 State OR . Ihrig is an all-around impressive basketball player, with the ability to score — including a beautiful shot from deep — great defensive skills, and the vision to find her teammates. She has the Bruins ready to make a postseason run.
Basketball seems to run in the Waiwaiole family as Kama has also been one of the stars for Cleveland in her senior season. Just like her sister, Kama is another stealthy defender with great awareness and anticipation skills. She also runs the point for the Warriors, creating a steady presence at the head of the offense, and she demonstrates high-level court vision. In some of their most recent games, Waiwaiole finished with 16 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals, and had an impressive 11 assists against Roosevelt and 6 steals against McDaniel.
Another great talent out of the Mt. Hood Conference, Ella Shackleton Ella Shackleton 5’4″ | SG Nelson | 2024 State OR has been a key player and leader for a young, talented Nelson team. Shackleton has a beautiful shot with a lightning quick release that allows her to get it off with very little space. She is an extremely intelligent player who is constantly doing the little things her team needs to get the win. Some of her all-around impressive performances include 8 points, 5 steals, 3 assists, and 2 rebounds against Central Catholic; and 12 points, 4 steals, 3 assists, and 2 rebounds at Reynolds.
And finally, Lake Oswego’s captain Annie Sale Annie Sale 5’9″ | PG Lake Oswego | 2024 State OR has been having a very strong senior campaign. Sale’s high IQ is quite evident within minutes of watching her game, both in the smart defensive plays she makes as well as her shooting and passing decisions on the offensive end. In two of their last league games, Sale finished with 9 points, 4 assists, 2 boards, and a steal against Oregon City, followed by 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals in a narrow loss to Tigard. Sale puts up well-rounded performances such as these on a nightly basis.
