Continue ReadingPrior to the season, Abigail was a top performer at the PGH Top 250 Expo and she certainly hasn’t let up since then. This a player that coaches on the next level must keep an eye on as this versatile forward is having a monster year for Green Hope High out in Cary, NC. The junior is averaging 16 points to go along with 12 rebounds for the Lady Falcons and has shown that she can be the focal point of an offense or can play off the ball and spot up for her teammates to find her. Abigail’s size simply gives teams problems and she will leave opponents puzzled on how to guard her as she can blow by bigger defenders and operate very well in iso. She can rebound effectively and take the ball coast to coast and she is very good at recognizing and taking advantage of the mismatch. I like the way she can play off the pick and roll and uses a nice jab step to her advantage when she attacks off the dribble. There is a a lot to like with Abigail and she has plenty enough upside to warrant more attention based off of the versatility that she has shown to have this season.

Kaiya Bond
Kaiya Bond
Kaiya has quietly led the Lady Wolverines to a very respectable 14-9 record this season. She has surely been impressing us with her ability to defend and run the floor at an extremely high level. She is a prototypical guard/wing player that is going to give you energy every time she comes in. She does a good job setting screens and she is lightening quick in transition. She will always beat her opponents down the floor and can finish strong at the rim on the break. Defensively she is very tough and she protects the rim extremely well for her size. She has shown that she can knock down the 10-15 footer and has been very impressive with how she operates within an offense. She doesn’t need the ball in her hands to be effective and knows how to be efficient and take shots in rhythm. Kaiya is having a phenomenal sophomore campaign and we are excited to see more of her over the next couple of years.
Makenzie Michael

Makenzie is one intriguing prospect that immediately grabs your attention when you watch the Lady Ravens play basketball. Her size and length jump out at you as you just can’t teach being over 6’0 tall on the high school level. I really love the way she plays defense. She has no problem switching off the pick and roll and she can step out and guard the three point line effectively. Her length bothers opponents and she will run players off the 3 point line as opponents do not feel comfortable shooting over her. She is an above average rebounder who doesn’t play timid underneath the basket. She will rebound aggressively and dive after loose balls. She is a very effective shot blocker who as tallied over 100+ blocks this season, which by far leads the stout Southwestern 4A conference. She is certainly blooming offensively and is only scratching the surface of what she can become over the next couple of years.
What I love most about Brooklyn is that she is always in “GO” mode. She loves to push the tempo and she will force defenders to play at her pace. She has so much speed with the ball in her hands and she has great recognition on when and how to distribute the ball. She is such a dominate player that you will see coaches elect to double her, however her quickness allows her to be able to split the double and make plays accordingly. Solid decision-maker with the ball in her hands and she is very efficient. So much to love about her game.
I absolutely love the intensity that Lauren plays with every time she steps on the court. Lauren is certainly one of the team’s vocal leaders and a coach is never going to wonder if she’s giving everything she’s got. Lauren has steadily improved on her game over the last year and has proved to be very valuable in her ability to box out and rebound, run the floor and handle the ball in spurts. She is tough as nails inside and is not afraid to put a body on her opponent. Lauren is a very underrated shooter. She continues to show that she can step out and hit the 15 footer as well as the 3 ball. She is very engaged in what is happening on the floor and her constant activity can be very bothersome. A coach can always count on Lauren to give you solid, productive minutes each and every time she plays.

We simply haven’t talked enough about this absolute star out of Morganton, NC and that must change. The junior reached the 1,000 point milestone this month and she is certainly deserving of a lot more recognition. Peyton does a little of everything for the Lady Patriots as the team features a guard-heavy roster that will sometimes force her to slide out to the wing. She can see time at the 1,2 or 3 and she will find a way to just fit in. Peyton is a very good PG who plays with patience. I love the way she will play the game at her pace and will slow the game down when needed. She does a good job of using her body to get into the lane and is very good at finishing at the rim. You don’t see many guards who are looking to post off the block and she can do it with ease. She knows how to utilize cuts to get to the rim and allowing teammates to find her as she cuts. She just a smart heads-up player that is so very enjoyable to watch.
