The MVP Of The Week is an individual that displayed what it means to put on a major performance/s for their perspective squad throughout the week. Someone who came out firing on all cylinders and dominated in more ways than one on the hardwood while putting up an eye-opening stat line.
The Players Of The Week are other individuals that were in consideration for the MVP of the week but fell just short in the end when taking into consideration all outlying factors.
Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!

- 2/2/24 vs Central Decatur – 44 Points (17-31), 7 Rebounds, 7 Assists, 9 Steals, 2 TO’s
Lindsey Davis had quite the week, including a 44 point performance against Central Decatur on Friday night to help her Nodaway Valley Wolverines squad to a victory. Davis has been a featured player the past few weeks for a number of reasons, the most recent being for one specific contest this past week. On Friday evening, Davis registered 44 points, 7 Rebounds, 7 Assists, 9 Steals, and 2 Turnovers. This is one of those games that I’m sure she is going to remember for the rest of her life. Not only did she score at Will throughout this whole thing but she also had high numbers in almost every other positive statistical category and her team won by a large margin. From a coaches perceptive, you can’t ask for much more than that. Next season Davis will take her talents to an Upper Peacocks team to continue on her basketball journey. A place where I think she is going to be able to thrive over her collegiate career.

- 1/29/24 vs Council Bluffs Lincoln – 24 Points (9-19), 2 Rebounds, 1 Assist, 7 Steals, 2 TO’s
As it pertains to Shooting Guards with a high level of energy, you won’t find many better this season then Ella Klusman of St. Albert’s. Klusman is a prospect that is quick and she can really let it fly from the outside. In one of her contest’s this past week, Klusman scored 24 points on 9-19 shooting, including 3-8 from deep, while also grabbing 2 Rebounds, dishing out an Assist, and creating 7 Turnovers. Most of which led to fast break layups in transition for herself or another teammate down the floor. I’ve had the chance to see Klusman play in person twice now and both times, she stood out over most other players on the floor. Her energy is contagious to the ones around her and when she is confident, she is really tough to stop in the open court. This St. Albert’s team is sitting with only 1 loss so far this season. If they continue on this path moving into the Playoff’s, this could be a group that we see at the State Tournament this season before things are said and done. They have all the personal and coaching needed, they just have to go make it happen now. Something that is more then possible.

- 1/29/24 vs Muscatine High School – 26 Points (12-18), 6 Rebounds, 7 Assists, 1 Block, 3 TO’s
Kyra Taylor is an underrated talent throughout the state of Iowa and I think that during the next few weeks, she is going to have a chance to show the entire state that she is the real deal. Taylor is a college committed athlete to continue her basketball path at the next level and she has also has been a consistent producer for her Davenport North Wildcats team over the past few seasons. On Monday Night, Taylor and the Wildcats faced off against Muscatine High School in an intense battle. In the end, Taylor finished with 26 Points (12-18), 6 Rebounds, 7 Assists, and 1 Block. As you can see, she definitely filled up the stat sheet in an efficient way in this one. No matter what her coach was asking of her, she was going to produce in someway and she did just that. Like I hinted to above, this team should get a shot to make it to State during the Playoffs this season. If their stars stay locked in and everyone else steps up to fill the shoes of their injured players, they could have a run to remember over the next few weeks.

- 1/30/24 vs Marquette Catholic – 22 Points (7-13), 4 Rebounds, 5 Assists, 4 Steals
Another Guard that has shown some real promise this season when it comes to shooting the basketball is Emily Boeckman of Calamus-Wheatland High School. Boeckman is a Shooting Guard that understands her time and space on the floor, while possessing a great feel for the game. If you sit down and watch Boeckman compete for just a half of basketball, you can tell that she has a different “feel” than most. I’m not sure what it is but she seems to move just a little bit smoother than the others around her and she seems to holds herself to a higher standard than other players. This past week, Boeckman put up a stat line that caught my attention. In her teams win against Marquette Catholic on Tuesday night, she had 22 Points (7-13), 4 Rebounds, 5 Assists, and 4 Steals. All of these numbers were vital in this contest as it was a close one at times. All in all, this Calamus-Wheatland team is legit. They sit at 19-1 with only a handful of more games to go in their regular season. Impressive to say the least.

- 2/2/24 vs Exira-EHK – 26 Points (10-16), 11 Rebounds, 5 Assists, 3 Steals, 3 Blocks, 6 TO’s
Eva Steffensen is an individual that has a high IQ on the basketball court, mixed with some size. More times than not, Steffensen is producing on offensive, while causing havoc on defense. Her mixture of height, length, and knowledge of the game creates a lot of problems for most opponents that are matching up across from her on the high school floor. On a team and in a program that runs a full court press and sophisticated defensive schemes, Steffensen and company do a great job of knowing where everyone needs to be, each time they set up. Doesn’t matter if it’s off of a quick bucket or a turnover. They all know where to be, even the players coming off of the bench. I’m not sure what the future holds for everyone here but each time this team takes the floor, they makes some things happen. It wouldn’t surprise me if they made some noise this Post-season. Only time will tell but in my opinion, they could definitely make it happen.
