Halle Bailey
Yes m’am Halle Bailey!! In a tremendous district championship game between two 2A state powerhouses (Alcoa versus Gatlinburg-Pittman), Alcoa pulled out the 53-50 upset.
Sophomore guard Halle Bailey, had a tremendous run through the tournament, on her way to earning MVP honors. Her solid play through the tournement kept the Alcoa ship steady. She stayed poised, continuously made the right plays, and battled on both ends. She finished with 10 points and 3 assists in the ‘ship. And as Coach Bauman said “Halle Baily’s a winner.”
Amelia Pfeiffer Amelia Pfeiffer 6’2″ | C Alcoa | 2024 State TN continued her dominant play through the tournament, especially on the defensive end. While only scoring 6 points, she controlled the glass and protected the rim (12 rebounds and a block). She also used the gravity she drew from the GP defenders to make plays for others (4 assists). This win was a great way to cap off a great career, and now she gets to host another Region Tournament game as a 1 seed.
I hope you’ve been paying attention to the Gwen Carroll Gwen Carroll 5’10” | SF Alcoa | 2026 State TN story, because it’s been a fun one to follow. Carroll went off AGAIN for 14 points in the championship game to the tune of 14 points, and knocked down three 4th quarter shots. Carroll has more than risen to the postseason occasion, and is peaking inidivually (which only helps her team potentially reach its potential).
Maddy Stewart, another favorite Alcoa player to follow, had a balanced 5 point, 6 rebound night.

District and tourney MVP Kyleigh Cawood Kyleigh Cawood 5’6″ | PG Midway | 2026 State TN had an extremely balanced night with 16 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 7 steals. Oakdale game plan was to limit Cawood, and holding her to 16 is pretty good! But Addison Armes Addison Armes 6’0″ | SF Midway | 2025 State TN showed up again in a big way (for the second straight game), as she chipped in with a huge 13 point performance in a low scoring affair in which every point. matter.
Congrats Midway Lady Waves!!
