Senior Gwen Carroll Gwen Carroll 5'10" | SF Alcoa | 2026 State TN went out strong in her final high school games.

Carroll in the state tournament showed no fear, as she constantly created solid offensive looks for Alcoa. In the two games she played, she had a total of 29 points, which included four made threes. She especially stood out in Alcoa’s opening round game against Tullahoma High School. She had three makes from distance and a game-high 20 points.

Carroll, as a senior at the state tournament, was also notably calm at the big stage. With her veteran leadership, she was able to help Alcoa routinely run the offensive sets they wanted.

With their backs against the wall, AHS leaned on one of their leaders to help them advance to the next round. Gwen was clutch, getting it done from both inside and out. Finishing with 20 points, 5 boards, she found the bottom of the net when her team needed a bucket. She was impressive from the field, but it was her threes that were big time for her team. This talented ballplayer will be called upon once again as her team moves on. Keep your eye on this Carson -Newman signee. This senior isn’t done yet and is ready to cap off an impressive career by bringing home the gold ball.

In her team’s championship game against Heritage High School, Carroll had a team-high 14 points. Caroll also excelled defensively in the championship matchup, logging three steals.

Going into the regional tournamnet Carroll brings a unique and effective skillset. Carroll is a great off-ball mover on both the perimeter and interior. This helps her generate a ton of points in some games. She now knows how to capitalize on these scoring chances when she finds a gap in her opponent’s defense. This comes from Carroll having a fast release on her long-range jumper and having a good touch in general around the basket.

The Carson-Newman commit is someone who leaves it all out on the floor. Her hard work has come to fruition as she is not only going to play at the next level, but she is a solid player who gives her ballclub an edge. From scoring inside or dialing it up from deep, she is not a stranger to putting the ball in the hoop. Her size creates problems, especially on defense. Deflections, rebounds, blocks —she neutralizes possessions, leading the charge the other way. Alcoa is a solid program, and Gwen gives them an advantage every time she is on the floor.  A Hard-nosed kid who plays with a chip on her shoulder.

Carroll, in her junior season, did many things to help Alcoa win basketball games. She does a little bit of everything, as exemplified in a game where she was named player of the week by a publication. In that game, she had 27 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Performances like this helped her gain interest from college teams.

In May, Carroll made her commitment to Carson-Newman University.

Going into her senior season, Carroll will bring these same skills, and then some, as she and her teammates try to make her last season of high school basketball one to remember.

I need every college coach in the state of Tennessee to tune in and watch what Gwen does on a nightly basis. She can handle any match-up! My notes looked like this; Gwen with the first score off the jump, block my Gwen, tough take and basket by Gwen, mid-range automatic! This kid continues to elevate and put up big time performances to help her team win! She poured in 22 points, scoring in numerous ways to lead her squad over Hampton! Caroll is the prime example of an athlete that you can play great defense on, but she has better offense. She is one of the few athletes that can put out a highlight reel with shots made over people, & a hand in her face! Gwen is NEXT LEVEL! The recruitment for this one is about to blow up fast!

Solid wing who contributes on both ends of the floor. Gwen can pick her poison and exploit the different defenses teams throw at her club. She can flash to the elbows and short corners and knock down shots, She is deadly in M2M situations as she can come off screens or receive open looks from kickouts. Even more important is her ability to crash the boards at its highest point, eliminating second-chance opportunities. Her game has grown over the years and this long-winged forward has made significant strides. Solid talent that is taking off.

In the most recent double overtime loss to Gatlinburg-Pittman, Carroll put up 20 points and added 11 rebounds. Gwen has put up numbers like this all season long! During the season win over GP, Carroll put up 27 points and added 8 rebounds, and 4 steals. Yes, I mentioned stats with Gwen, but what she brings to any team goes way past any stat! Carroll is a true difference maker. She is the true definition of a game changer. She can change the tempo and the momentum at any time! Gwen has exploded this year, and she will explode even more when AAU starts. Don’t wait any longer on extending an offer to this one.

Gwen is averaging over 15 points per game with an efficient percentage! She is also averaging over 5 rebounds per game. She has poured in numerous double-doubles! Malone once said, “I work hard. I focus. I train. My thoughts are my own. I set my goals. I take the road less traveled, and I don’t look back.” These words highlight the mentality, the focus, the work you put in, and how you are your own individual person! Carroll continues to put the work in. This athlete is determined and focused and she is not losing that focus! She is athletically gifted and what she has added to her gift is fun to watch! She’s hard to guard and one of the versatile athletes that can guard anyone on the floor. If you are a next level coach, Gwen will make your team better!

Tough. One word that describes this young lady. She had an impressive stat line of 17 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 assists. Her fingerprints were all over this victory as she did her part and played a major role in her clubs victory. This kid is solid and everything about her screams district player nominee. Look for her to be a big time factor for her team as they look towards competing in district play.
